Sprint NFL Mobile Live Now Available on Palm Pre

Sprint Exclusive NFL Content Delivered Over America's Most Dependable 3G Network Gives Fantasy Football Players and Fans Unequaled Mobile Access to the NFL

July 27, 2009 – Just in time for the start of training camp for NFL teams across the country, Sprint today announced that its exclusive NFL Mobile Live application is now available on the Palm Pre phone.

NFL Mobile Live, the only wireless source for complete, live access to NFL action, was sent to Palm Pre customers as part of an over-the-air software update from Palm. When customers accept the update to Palm webOS 1.1.0, NFL Mobile Live is automatically installed. Once installed, customers can use Palm Pre's universal search to locate the application by simply typing NFL on their keyboard from the main screen or launcher, and then tapping the NFL icon to open the application.Read more

Sprint Sets Sales Record With Debut of Palm Pre

 Palm Pre

June 9, 2009 – Within hours of offering Palm Pre – the most widely anticipated electronic device of the year – eager customers delivered the result: a record Sprint sales debut.

By late Sunday, Palm Pre had broken previous sales records (first day and first weekend) for a Sprint device.

"Sprint is a very different company than it was 12 months ago," said Dan Hesse, president and chief executive officer. "Palm Pre is the coming out party for the new Sprint. It is the perfect device that highlights all of the positive changes in our company, including our revolutionary Ready Now retail store experience, greatly improved customer care, unmatched value pricing plans and America's most dependable 3G network."(1)

Pre comes with Sprint's industry-leading, value-oriented service plans – which offer significant savings vs. the competition. For example, Sprint's Simply EverythingSM plan saves customers $1200 over the comparable plan for AT&T's iPhone, and more against Verizon's smartphone and PDA pricing over a two year period – that's real value.(2)

The anticipation of getting a device found many customers waiting in line at Sprint retail stores Saturday morning. One person in line – on his wedding day – was Theodore Travis. Read more

Palm Pre Coming to Verizon

Palm Pre

Well, well, well…it looks like Sprint won't be the only one carrying the Palm Pre. According to a report from Reuters, Verizon Wireless will be selling the Pre, but you'll have to wait about six months after the launch to get it at Verizon stores. Verizon Wireless' Lowell McAdam confirmed the news on a webcast, Reuters said.

Verizon Wireless also said they would be introducing a new version of the BlackBerry Storm and a new BlackBerry called Tour, which is said to be a new upscale BlackBerry. Also slated are devices from Motorola and phones based on Google's Android operating system.

"Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a second generation Storm," on the Verizon Wireless network, McAdam said. "You can expect to see us launch a steady stream of new devices from multiple vendors."

Best Buy Gives Instant Rebate on New Palm Pre

 Palm Pre

Are you wanting to get your hands on the new Palm Pre, but don't want to go through the hassle of mailing in the form for your $100 rebate? Then head on over to your local Best Buy. They announced earlier this week that they will offer an instant $100 rebate on the Palm Pre (in stores on June 6th).

The Palm Pre, available only on Sprint, runs on the Palm webOS Operating System and features a 3.1-inch touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS, 3.0 megapixel camera, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, 7GB of internal storage and more…

It will be available at Best Buy on June 6th for $199.99 (after $100 instant rebate and new 2-year agreement). I have heard that Radio Shack will also be offering the instant rebate. The Pre will be available at other retailers on the same date, but you'll have to mail the rebate form in and wait (and wait…and wait….) to get your money back.

Official: Palm Pre launching June 6th at $200!

 Palm Pre

Sprint has finally announced the Palm Pre for a June 6th release. It will cost you $200 after signing a two-year contract and cashing in a $100 rebate. The Palm Pre will run on Sprint's 3G network and will feature Palm Synergy.

Palm Synergy features:

  • Linked contacts – a single view that links your contacts from a variety of sources, so accessing them is easier than ever.
  • Layered calendars – Your calendars can be seen on their own or layered together in a single view, combining work, family, friends, sports teams, or other interests.
  • Combined messaging – Synergy lets you see all your conversations with the same person in a chat-style view, even if it started in IM and you want to reply with text messaging. You can also see who's active in a buddy list right from contacts or e-mail, and start a new conversation with just one touch.

The Palm Pre will be available for purchase at Sprint, Best Buy, Radio Shack and Wal-mart. Currently, the Palm Pre is slated for a U.S. release only. There is no word, yet, on an international release.
