PRO Introduces Two New Modular Digital Flash Units
February 24, 2002 – Photographic Research Organization, Inc. (PRO), a cooperative owned by independent specialty retailers, introduces today two new versatile digital electronic flash units – the PROMASTER FTD 5750 DX and FTD 5550 DX. These fully dedicated TTL automatic modular flash units are optimized for use with today’s high-end digital cameras as well as 35mm SLR cameras. Digital photography, just like traditional film-based photography, often requires additional lighting for the best results. And the flash built into most digital cameras is often inadequate for serious photography. By using PRO’s specially designed modules to attach the flash units to either digital or film cameras, these unique PROMASTER flash units provide greater flexibility to both the digital and traditional photographer.
“I’m delighted that PRO is the first accessory flash manufacturer to announce not one but two flash units designed for serious digital photography,” said Mike Worswick, PRO president and director of product development. “When using the new PROMASTER flash units with specially designed modules for digital camera connection, these flash units not only extend a digital camera’s flash range, but they can also be used to greatly enhance a photographer’s images by reducing red-eye, filling in shadows and providing additional illumination exactly where needed.”
At the heart of this new PROMASTER digital flash system are a series of PROMASTER digital modules designed to operate with most popular camera brands. These interchangeable modules which connect to the camera’s accessory shoe allow photographers with more than one type (e.g., digital vs. film) or brand of camera to benefit from the efficiency that results from use of this innovative system. Also available is a PROMASTER slave module for multiple flash applications.
PROMASTER 5750 DX
The PROMASTER 5750 DX is a versatile and powerful flash unit with a three-position zoom flash head, (wide, normal and telephoto). And the supplied wide-angle diffuser panel gives users even illumination to cover a 28mm lens. The main flash head on the 5750 DX tilts upward a full 90° and swivels 180° for maximum versatility. The 5750 DX also features a secondary fill-in flash, both front and rear flash ready light, and auto power off to conserve battery life.
PROMASTER 5550 DX
The versatile and compact PROMASTER 5550 DX flash unit’s head tilts upward a full 90° and swivels 180°. The 5550 DX flash head also tilts down by 7°, making it extremely useful for macro photography. The 5550 DX also features both front and rear flash ready lights and auto power off to conserve battery life.
PROMASTER DX Flash Modules
PROMASTER Digital Flash Modules work with the PROMASTER series of DX Digital Electronic Flash units to take full advantage of the advanced features of most popular digital cameras. Digital Flash Modules are currently available in five versions to fit Nikon, Canon, Olympus, and Sony digital cameras.
