See Internet Photos on Your Color Cell Phone
dotPhoto’s new Pictavision software allows you to place pictures onto your color BREW-Enabled wireless handset to share with friends and family.
Photos are stored online on a secure, password-protected dotPhoto account –simply login, select an album from your dotPhoto account, and then select a photo from a list within that album. Once you select the photo, it downloads to your phone for you to view. dotPhoto sends a bitmap (BMP) file to the phone that's about 19K. We are told that future versions of BREW will work with JPG files, which will be about 5K and cut download time by 75% -- from 18 seconds to 5 seconds.
dotPhoto is free to join, and it is free to store your screen-sized images. The Pictavision photo access service is free to try once, then 99 cents for a single interaction -- up to 25 images in a single session -- or $3.99 a month for unlimited access. Currently, Pictavision works only on the Sharp Z-800 color phone. www.dotphoto.com
