JVC HDTV Camcorder

Being able to film home movies of your family is one of the greatest pleasures high-tech gadgets have to offer - now JVC makes an HDTV camcorder that lets you shoot in high-definition digital video for the ultimate in high-end picture quality. If you own an HDTV set or you've seen a demo of HDTV, you know how amazingly lifelike this new generation of television technology looks. Unfortunately, the HDTV television cameras the networks use for the Tonight Show cost over $100,000. JVC's new GR-HD1 HDTV camcorder, on the other hand, shoots in full 720P high-def just like the pros, yet is only 1/28th the cost - a "mere" $3,500. Yes, you can buy very nice standard-def DV camcorders for $500, but if you've got an HDTV set, home movies shot with the JVC will look so much better and more professional it's ridiculous.

The JVC comes with special Windows movie editing software that lets you edit your home movies in HDTV format, or convert them to the DVD format so you can burn DVDs for playback on any TV. $3,500 www.jvc.com
