How about the DVD entertainment buy of the year? For those of you like action, adventure and mystery, you may have already discovered the critically acclaimed, popular Fox television program “24.” This series has earned somewhat of a cult following. It is shot in real time and takes place over the course of a 24 hour day (hence the title “24”) in the life of a U.S. counter-terrorist agent played by Keifer Sutherland--- along with a terrific supporting cast. For many people this Tuesday night series on Fox has become “appointment " television. In a wise move, Fox recently took last year’s entire first season and edited it onto a set of six DVDs with a total viewing time of over 20 hours--- without commercials or interruptions. This box set packs more entertainment value per dollar than anything on the market. My brother spent the better part of three straight nights watching the entire show from start to finish. Now for the best part: the film was beautifully transferred to DVD and looks much better in this anamorphic widescreen transfer than it originally did on television. This box set is sure to please almost anyone on your list that has an ounce of red blood flowing and enough brainpower to absorb the fast-paced and often-complex adult story line as this series unfolds. A “must have” at only about $49, you can get it at your usual video stores.
