WorldGate Unveils Ojo Shadow Personal Video Phone
March 13, 2006 - WorldGate Communications, Inc. today announced the introduction of Ojo Shadow, a lower cost version of its popular personal video phone that is expected to be priced at $249 with applicable rebates. The distinctive black Ojo Shadow will complement the full-featured original Ojo while maintaining the same high quality video performance and iconic design.
WorldGate also announced that it is reducing the Manufacturers’ Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of its original Ojo Personal Video Phone. The MSRP will now be $499 for the original Ojo and $399 for the Ojo Shadow. A rebate of $150 will be available for either phone, with Ojo service activation, which would reduce the expected street price to consumers to $349 and $249 respectively.
Hal Krisbergh, Chairman and CEO of WorldGate, said "The introduction of the Ojo Shadow coupled with the significant reduction in price for the original Ojo will enable a broader range of consumers to experience the thrill of two-way video communications. Now more consumers will be able to share the same enjoyment and excitement that other Ojo users have had to see close friends and family and share special moments with the ease of making a simple phone call."
Ojo is the first broadband video phone to feature a friendly and intuitive user interface that facilitates realistic, face-to-face, personal communications experiences over DSL and cable broadband networks. Users simply connect their Ojo Personal Video Phone to their broadband networks to experience high quality video phone calls. The full featured Ojo includes a 2.4 gigahertz cordless handset.
