Toshiba Introduces Notebooks with Intel Core Duo and Solo Processors

March 8, 2006 – Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., just introduced the Satellite M100 Series notebooks, its first Satellite products incorporating the Intel Core Duo and Intel Core Solo processors for enhanced performance and mobility. The products are available from www.toshibadirect.com with prices starting at $1,034.

The processors are part of the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology that reduces power consumption while boosting overall performance from graphics to wireless capabilities. Other major Intel Centrino Mobile Technology components have been updated in the new platform, including the Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset and the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG network connection.

Starting at 5.2 pounds and designed for consumers who want on- the-go productivity and entertainment, the Satellite M100 series notebook also includes:

  • a 14.1-inch WXGA diagonal display with optional TruBrite technology;
  • choice of CD-RW/DVD-ROM or DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD's storage capacity in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;
  • 40GB to120GB 5400 rpm hard drive storage for faster access to stored files;
  • 256MB to 2048MB memory;
  • Express Media Player that lets users instantly access DVDs or CDs with the push of a button without having to boot the Microsoft Windows operating system

The new Satellite M100 series models feature a standard Peacock Blue case with additional choices of Mist Gray and Sunlight Copper available.

A 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for quick downloads of files comes standard. Consumers also have their choice of integrated graphics with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, or discrete graphics with the ATI Mobility RADEON X1300 with 64MB memory or ATI Mobility RADEON X1400 with 128MB memory. Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system is standard while customers can upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

The Satellite M100 series notebooks come with a standard one-year limited warranty. The standard limited warranty includes carry- in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may use any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook's service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.
