Canon DC100 DVD Camcorder

Every home should have one - a video camera for capturing those once in a lifetime moments. Only trouble is, finding a camera that is technologically advanced enough to deliver crisp, clear shots, but user-friendly enough that even an amateur can produce quality results is hard. Until Canon's DC100 DVD Camcorder.

The DC100 is one of Canon's first camcorders to record straight to R/RW DVDs. Compatible with most DVD players, the 3" DVDs can record up to 120 minutes of footage. Thanks to the pre-loaded DC100 software, the DVD automatically starts recording at a blank point, so accidentally recording over previously shot footage is an impossibility. Simple editing tools are also included in the DVD software, allowing the user to move, store, and organize footage into playlists through the visual index. Once the DVD is complete, you can save it and play it through any compatible DVD player. Before it's complete, you can also view footage by hooking up the output cables to your TV.

With the sudden popularity of HD video and the automatic widescreen mode in any HD TV, the DC100 is equipped with a widescreen option to ensure that any footage shot does not end up distorted on a widescreen television. The conversion to 16:9 widescreen can be done with just the push of a button. Converting back to the 4:3 ratio for letterbox TVs is just as simple. For best quality, however, it is recommended that the conversion is made before recording, so you can view the image as you record on the 2.7" LCD screen.

Other features include an image stabilizer, to capture those fast- moving moments without the blur, and a slim, compact design for easy travel and convenience. Audio is recorded in Dolby DDS, and a 25x optical zoom lens. A lens cover is built in, so you never have to waste precious moments searching for it. Menu options include a wide language selection and many digital effects. Canon also provides the DC100 with a 1-year parts warranty, to keep those videos rolling smoothly.

The DC100 DVD Camcorder will be available from Canon in April, 2006. Find out more at www.usa.canon.com.
