FREE ZoneAlarm 64-bit Firewall Beta

For users of high-performance computer games and memory-intensive graphic applications, 64-bit PC's are in high demand. The difference between a 64-bit chip and a 32-bit chip isn't about more megahertz, but actually doubling the amount of data a CPU can handle. The advantage of 64-bits is it gives you a larger address space, translating into the ability to address more memory. With a 64-bit processor you can address over 16 billion gigabytes. With 64-bit computing comes the need for newer security products. Zone Labs just unveiled a new 64-bit compatible beta version of its ZoneAlarm firewall, making it the first 64-bit firewall available free to consumers.

While some types of malware currently plaguing PC's don't work with Windows XP64, users should still be wary since the Sober worm variants and the recent Kama Sutra/Blackworm viruses were successful in infecting XP64 machines. Protecting your PC is priority, and a dual layer firewall is an essential piece of protection. Threats specifically targeting toward 64-bit computers are starting to appear and will most likely increase as more consumers adopt the 64-bit technology.

Availability of ZoneAlarm 64 is expected in the spring, currently consumers can download ZoneAlarm’s beta version but with it being a beta version there may be a few kinks to work out, and it is encouraged that if you come across any hick-ups to report them. http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/beta/index.html
