Roku Intros $79 Instant Streaming Player

Roku has added the Roku SD and Roku HD-XR to their instant streaming player lineup, the company announced this week. They now have three models available, the SD, HD, and HD-XR. All players deliver instant entertainment from Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand and MLB.TV.

The new Roku SD player connects to the TV using the included Yellow-Red-White video/audio cable. In addition, the Roku SD player incorporates Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and an Ethernet port for broadband connectivity. PlayStation 3 Gets Netflix Streaming

Sony and Netflix today announced that Playstation 3 users with Internet connectivity will be able to stream Netflix movies and TV episodes to TVs via the PlayStation 3 system. Netflix expects to begin streaming via the PS3 system next month at no additional cost to Netflix members in the United States who have a PS3 system.

Netflix members will receive a free Blu-ray disc that will activate the Netflix user interface on the PS3 system. The system must be online via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Once the disc is in the PS3, Netflix members can then watch movies and TV episodes instantly. Members can also use the Netflix Web site or navigate directly on their PS3 systems to add movies and TV shows to their Queues.

Best Buy's New Insignia Blu-ray Players Stream Netflix

Best Buy and Netflix announced this week two new Insignia Blu-ray players with Netflix streaming capability. The new Insignia Advanced Series Blu-ray Player (NS-WBRDVD) and the Insignia Connected Blu-ray Player (NS-BRDVD3) are now available for $249.99 and $179.99, respectively, at all Best Buy stores and online at bestbuy.com.

Both models are Internet ready, with the Insignia Advanced Series model using built-in Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet and the Insignia Connected player using an Ethernet connection. Both players feature Dolby TrueHD and they up-convert standard DVDs. Read more

LG Electronics Announces New Streaming Content Partners for its Blu-ray Players
