Apple Updates MacBook Pro Line, Adds Thunderbolt I/O Technology

 Apple MacBook Pro

Apple just updated the MacBook Pro family with the latest dual-core and quad-core Intel Core processors, along with a new FaceTime HD camera. The big news, however, is that these are the first computers to feature Intel's Thunderbolt I/O technology.

Thunderbolt Technology provides high-speed data and display transfers in each direction—at the same time. Boasting transfer speeds up to 10Gbps each, that means you can expect to transfer a full-length HD movie to the computer in about 30 seconds. Wow! The Thunderbolt port supports FireWire and USB devices and Gigabit Ethernet networks via adapters. Thunderbolt also supports DisplayPort and works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI and VGA displays. Read more
