October 21, 2005 — Continuing its position as a technology leader in the professional cinema industry, Klipsch Audio Technologies is introducing a narrow profile, four-way behind-the-screen loudspeaker system to support today’s demanding digital soundtracks without taking up valuable real estate.
Following the success of its large, fully horn-loaded KPT-MCM-4-T Grand four-way system, Klipsch designed the new KPT-545-4-Q four-way model to deliver dynamic movie thrills and chills but from a much shallower cabinet. Less than 24 inches in depth, the fully horn-loaded KPT-545-4-Q system is the perfect choice for larger theater venues that require a rich auditory experience but can’t accommodate the 45-inch depth of Klipsch’s Grand speaker.
The KPT-545-4-Q’s low-frequency punch is provided by the high efficiency KPT-415-LF quad 15-inch bass unit, aided by a separate, single 12-inch, Tractrix® Horn-loaded mid-bass device, the KPT-XII-MB. The KPT-402-MF Tractrix Horn and K-1133 two-inch exit titanium compression driver effortlessly reproduce the system’s mid frequencies. For the added kick that is required by grandiose locations, the KPT-Grand-HF-T extended high-frequency horn module easily handles the system’s smooth treble reproduction. This powerful system is also available with a mid/high passive crossover for a tri-amp configuration and referred to as the KPT-545-4-N.
Already the preferred loudspeaker brand of leading cinema operators that include Regal Cinemas, Malco Theatres, Harkins Theatres, Krikorian Premiere Theatres, Cinépolis Mexico, Cinemex Mexico and Caribbean Cinemas, Klipsch plans to further serve the market by adding the KPT-545-4-Q to its extensive and diverse list of professional cinema and stage offerings.
Klipsch has held a 50 percent market share of the new and retrofitted screens in the U.S. since about 2000. The numbers are closer to 60 percent in Latin America and the Caribbean.
