Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Computer Speakers Go Wireless (Sort of)

 Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Wireless

More people use laptops to listen to music, watch movies and play games than ever before. Now you don't have to be stuck with the (sometimes) poor quality sound coming from your computer thanks to the new Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Wireless computer speakers.

Klipsch first introduced the ProMedia 2.1 system back in 2000, and it has become one of their best-selling products. To make the speakers even better, Klipsch decided to create a wireless version. The new ProMedia 2.1 Wireless sounds just like the THX-certified original, only this one features a USB wireless transmitter that plugs into the computer's USB port.

The system is not completely wireless, however. Unless operated via batteries, the power source needs to connect to electricity. With this system, the subwoofer is the power source. It plugs into a wall outlet and then the two speakers connect to it via wires. Wireless, (in this case), means no wires attach to the computer. The ProMedia and computer wirelessly connect via the USB wireless transmitter.

The ProMedia 2.1 Wireless is available at klipsch.com for $199.99, only in the United States. The original ProMedia ($149.99) is available at Best Buy and klipsch.com.

Headphones for new iPod shuffle Start Rolling Out…

 Scosche IDR350M, IDR450M and IDR650M

You can always bet that as soon as a new iPod product is announced, accessories will not be far behind. In fact, today I found information on two new headphones for the 3rd generation shuffle from both Klipsch and Scosche. Here is the scoop:

Scosche is currently developing three earphone models for the iPod shuffle. The IDR350M, IDR450M and IDR650M are all noise isolating earphones that feature an integrated control surface. Users can control play, pause, adjust volume, skip tracks, navigate playlists and hear the name of the song and artist. If you own an iPod touch, nano or 120GB iPod classic, you can also record voice memos thanks to its miniature microphone built into the back of the control surface. The headphones are expected to be available this spring and range in price from $49.99 to $99.99.

Scosche is also developing an inline control adapter kit which will let you use any standard set of headphones and enjoy all of the features of the third generation iPod shuffle. The inline control also allows users to plug their shuffle into any vehicles auxiliary input and maintain full control of the iPod. Visit www.scosche.com for more info. Read more

Budget Friendly Headphones from Klipsch

 Klipsch Image S4

Klipsch, known for their high quality audio products, just introduced a cheaper alternative for those who still want excellent sound quality in their headphones, but at a less expensive price point. The new Image S4 and S2 in-ear headphones are priced at $79 and $49 respectively, yet still feature the same ear tips used in their pricier headphones – which can cost up to $350.

What make the S4 and S2 different are their oval ear tips that comfortably fit into your ear canals, blocking out almost all outside noise. Other headphones with their circular design can get uncomfortable after a period of time, but not these! The people at Klipsch have put a lot of time and effort into making affordable, comfortable high-performance headphones.

The Image S4 will be available in April for $79 in a piano black and silver finish and include three different-sized oval ear tips (a small/medium dual flange design as well as medium and large single flange designs), an ear tip cleaning tool and an aluminum case.

The Image S2 will be available in July for $49 in a piano black finish and include three different-sized oval ear tips (small, medium and large) and a cloth “Snap-tite” carrying pouch. Read more

The latest five-model Icon V Series an all-new product class for Klipsch was born out of feedback the legendary speaker company received from Best Buy's employees and customers information reflecting that people want superior, value-priced sound in the lifestyle speaker category.

Klipsch Icon W Series Unites Classic Beauty and Modern Technology

June 5, 2008 — To the eye, the new Icon W speakers from Klipsch reflect a more classic approach, featuring furniture-grade wood veneer cabinets available in espresso and cabernet finishes. But to the ear, there is nothing traditional about them. Advancing the company's proven horn-loaded technology to new levels of sophistication, this home theater series delivers full-bodied sound performances from slimmer enclosures.

There are five models in the Icon W Series: the WF-35 and WF-34 floorstanding speakers, the WB-14 bookshelf speaker, the WC-24 center channel and the WS-24 surround speaker.

All of these speakers feature exclusive Klipsch XT Tractrix Horn-loaded technology—the same that's used in the more contemporary-looking Klipsch Icon X Series. For over 60 years, horns have been the driving force behind the company's signature high-output, low-distortion sound. XT—or X-Tractrix—engineering takes this time-proven philosophy to new levels by altering the surface geometry, which equalizes the speed of sound waves from the horn and smoothes the dispersion pattern. Klipsch Builds upon Image Headphone Popularity with New Model

June 4, 2008 — Following their introduction last November, Klipsch's award-winning Image headphones instantly became a fan favorite among reviewers, making a name for themselves as the world's smallest, lightest full-range earphone design. Today, the company is expanding the Image line to include the slightly larger X5, which brings another premium sound signature to this newly formed family.

According to Tony Ostrom, Klipsch director of product marketing, the Image X5 is bigger than its predecessor by only 2mm in diameter. This minimal size difference makes the X5 easier and slightly less expensive to manufacture, so the company can pass the savings on to the end user. However, Ostrom mentioned that these headphones are still considered very small, very lightweight and will continue the Image legacy of being the least fatiguing in-ear headphones around. Read more

The latest KL-7502-THX LCR and KS-7502-THX surround models are not only meticulously mapped to THX standards, they also put a fresh spin on the company's horn-loaded design principles.

According to Mark Casavant, vice president of product development for Klipsch architectural, in-ceiling speakers make up 70 percent of the loudspeaker market, and while Klipsch has been a major player in this segment for years, these new discreet THX Ultra2 speakers establish a precedence for the company. In fact, the KS-7502-THX is the market's first THX Ultra2-certified in-ceiling surround speaker. Read more

Klipsch Palladium P-39F Speaker Takes Environmentally Friendly Approach

May 8, 2008 — When the Klipsch industrial design team set out to create the flagship Palladium P-39F floorstanding loudspeaker, their goal was to have it resemble a premium piece of handcrafted furniture. And, by looking at its striking boat-tail silhouette and exotic zebra-striped finish, it's quite obvious they hit the mark. But, less apparent is the team's environmentally friendly approach.

According to Paul Jacobs, president and COO of Klipsch Group, Inc., often, when building luxury goods, manufacturers will use a zebrawood veneer because their affluent target market is awed by its dramatic color banding of light and dark stripes. However, it's a resource that is considered threatened in its native habitat, meaning it's vulnerable to extinction in the near future. "With the P-39F, we too are trying to reach upper-echelon customers using a distinct, zebra-striped veneer, but we've found a way to lessen the impact it has on our mother Earth," he said. Read more
