New JVC Home Theater System Plays Music, Video and Image Files From a PC

April 17, 2007 – Looking for an easy way to play computer-based music and video files through a home entertainment set up? JVC now offers a system that easily connects to a computer to provide access to music, video and image files.

The new system is the JVC Sophisti DD-3, comprised of a main unit and speakers. At the heart of the system is a network media player that serves as the nerve center of the home entertainment set up. Like most system main units, this one includes a DVD player, an AM/FM tuner and inputs for connecting other components. But what sets it apart from others is an Ethernet connection that allows it to connect to a personal computer, allowing retrieval of music files, movies, digital images and other digital files stored on the computer. JVC's Sophisti system can connect directly to a single computer, or to multiple computers through a wired or wireless router, providing access to files stored on any connected computer. Once set up, audio is routed through the system's speakers while video and still images are displayed on a connected television. Read more

JVC Reduces Cabinet Depth In New Slim HD-ILA Rear Projection HDTVs

January 2007 – JVC brings a new profile to the projection TV category with a pair of new sets in its HD-ILA line that feature dramatically reduced cabinet depth. Two screen sizes will be offered, 58 and 65 inches, with cabinet depths of 10.7 and 11.6 inches, respectively.

The new shallow cabinet is made possible by the development of a new optical engine, which will be offered in two new HD-ILA televisions – the 58-inch HD-58S998 and the 65-inch HD-65S998. Both sets bring a new look to the rear projection TV category.

Both will easily fit on most stands and furniture designed for flat panel TVs. In addition, the sets’ unique side heat dissipation design and side connections allow the sets to be placed flush against the wall, or even hung on the wall for further placement and décor flexibility. An optional JVC stand designed specifically for use with the new slim HD-ILA sets will also be available. Both sets each use three native 1080p JVC D-ILA devices, LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology developed by JVC that is renowned for its close pixel spacing, which delivers a bright, high contrast, smooth image. These devices are used in a new JVC-developed optical engine that combines a new concave mirror with the refracting lens to create a projection angle approximately 138 degrees wider and about 1.5 times greater than previous JVC technology. The wide projection angle reduces the projection distance by about 40 percent, allowing JVC to slim down the set considerably. In addition, compared to other rear projection systems that use a convex mirror, the use of a concave mirror allows the mirror to be positioned lower relative to the optical engine. This results in a shallower cabinet and allows the cabinet area below the screen to be no taller than on other JVC HD-ILA sets. Read more

JVC Introduces Innovative Dual-Mode Noise Canceling Headphones

November 27, 2006 – JVC now offers an alternative to the "one size fits all" approach to noise canceling headphones with the introduction of a dual-mode model that allows users to choose the mode that best suits the situation.

JVC's new modestly-priced HA-NC80 headphones deliver up to 75 percent noise reduction. But rather than treat all listening situations alike, JVC recognized that the nature of background noise varies from one environment to another, and so developed dual-mode noise canceling circuitry so the user can choose the most effective mode for the circumstances. In addition, to help block ambient noise the headphones feature fully padded, closed earpieces. Read more

September 2006 – JVC just announced new display technology that delivers a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and will be featured in new full HD home cinema front projectors.

A primary advantage of JVC's D-ILA (Digital Image Light Amplifier) device is that it eliminates grids, or the "screen door effect", found in other technologies, offering a high aperture ratio of more than 90 percent to ensure smooth, film-like images. When combined with JVC's newly developed optical system, these devices can provide a native contrast of 10,000:1 and a brightness level of 800 lumens for natural yet vivid color reproduction and high contrast. JVC Announces New High-Speed LCD TVs With 120Hz Refresh Rate

June 29, 2006 – JVC today announced two new high definition flat panel LCD televisions with technology that delivers crisp fast action images, typically a weakness in LCD performance. The two new sets employ JVC's new Clear Motion Drive, which produces images at 120 frames per second (120Hz), double the typical rate, and inserts an interpolated image. The result is a significant reduction in blurring or ghost images, often a problem with conventional LCD TVs. JVC introduced the world's first 120Hz LCD TV last fall in Japan, where that set is now available. Read more
