Iomega eGo HDDs are Now Available for Mac Users

Mac users can now enjoy the stylish and rugged Iomega eGo HDDs, available now. The eGo HDD features Firewire 400/800 and USB 2.0 connectivity, a rugged aluminum design, Alpine White, Midnight Blue and Ruby Red colors and a 3-year limited warranty.

The bundled software includes:

  • Iomega QuikProtect: Backup software for simple scheduled file-level backup of data to hard drives and network-attached storage devices
  • EMC Retrospect Express or Express HD: backup all of your data plus applications and settings

Iomega has announced the eGo HDD starting at $85 for 250GB or $135 for 500GB. "Most" of these HDDs are powered by a single USB cable and come in 4 colors: red, silver, blue and black. These 2.5-inch HDDs feature an aluminum shell that is slightly more than a half-inch thick (16 mm) and weigh less than 7 ounces (200 grams).

Along with the eGo HDD, you will receive some excellent security software, such as:

  • McAfee VirusScan Plus - a free six-month subscription with anti-virus, anti-spyware, 2-way firewall, and web security protection (PC only)
