Apple's New iMac Sports Thunderbolt, Sandy Bridge Processors and FaceTime HD Camera

Apple today announced a new line of iMac computers featuring Thunderbolt I/O technology, Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, as well as a FaceTime HD camera. The new iMac line starts at $1,199, with the top-of-the-line model sporting a $1,999 price tag.

The new iMac runs Mac OS X Snow Leopard and features quad-core Intel Core i5 processors (upgradeable to Core i7 processors up to 3.4 GHz), AMD Radeon HD graphics processors, and is the first desktop to include Thunderbolt I/O technology. The 21.5-inch iMac sports a single Thunderbolt port while the 27-inch model features two ports for expansion.

The iMac keeps its signature aluminum and glass design, IPS LED-backlit display and SD card slot and includes Apple's Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad. On the software side, you'll find iLife '11 with iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.Read more

Apple Announces Black Friday Ad...Sort of

I say might because we don't know exactly what will be included in this "one-day Apple shopping event." Per Apple's website (and an email I received), the company teases us with this: "Come back to the Apple Online Store the day after Thanksgiving for a special one-day-only holiday shopping event. You'll find dozens of great iPad, iPod, and Mac gifts for everyone on your list."

The Apple sale starts this Black Friday (November 26, 2010) at 8am and will run all day.

Today Apple announced a new Mac Pro line featuring up to 12 processing cores and latest quad-core and 6-core Intel Xeon processors, all-new ATI graphics, and for the first time, the option for up to four 512GB solid state drives (SSD).

The Mac Pro also comes with Apple's Magic Mouse and a new Magic Trackpad is also available as an optional accessory. The wireless Magic Trackpad features a glass surface and allows you to use the Multi-Touch gestures of a Mac notebook on your desktop. The Magic Trackpad sells for $69.

Apple on Tuesday announced that they have updated their iMac desktop computer line, MacBooks, as well as introducing the new multi-touch Magic Mouse. They also boosted the speed, doubled the memory and introduced a new server configuration of the Mac mini. Just in time for the holiday season (of course).

The new iMacs have larger screens, 21.5 inches and 27 inches, up from 20 and 24 inches. Featuring a new edge-to-edge glass design and aluminum enclosure, the new iMac line starts at $1,199. Other features include Intel Core 2 Duo processors (quad-core processors are also available), 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 memory and capacity up to 16GB across four SO-DIMM slots.
