Push, Don’t Pull

Yard-Man Self Starter MowerNow you can start a gas-powered walk-behind lawnmower with the touch of a button. The Touch-N-Mow easy starting system from Briggs & Stratton is the first starting system that enables a mower to start by simply pressing a button. It requires no battery, no electricity and no need to pull a cord before each use. Once the engine is engaged by the conventional method for the first time, the starting system takes the energy being produced by the flywheel and transmits it through the engine brake to a coil that stores the energy for future uses. When the engine stops, the system remains energized for up to 10,000 pull-free starts.

To restart, simply prime the engine, push the start button and engage the blade control handle to release the energy needed to start the engine. There’s no more pulling the cord each time.

A removable safety lockout key prevents accidental startup of the engine during storage or transport and also stops children from starting the engine.

The Touch-N-Mow easy starting system is available on 6 hp Briggs & Stratton Quantum engines and will be offered on an Intek engine this spring. It is available exclusively on the Yard-Man Self-Starter line of mowers . Prices range from $280 to $500. www.briggsandstratton.com
