March 31, 2010 – Activision Publishing, Inc.'s April lineup of downloadable songs is sure to satisfy with huge rock bands and popular tracks for Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero players this month. With the addition of tracks from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fall Out Boy, Blur, The All-American Rejects, Saving Abel, Phoenix and Black Sabbath, the Guitar Hero music library continues to evolve and expand, providing hours of entertainment for fans of all music genres.

Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd kicks off the month of downloadable music on April 1, with a three song track pack featuring the rock anthem that first brought the band national attention, "Free bird." In addition, gamers will also get the popular singles "Simple Man" and "Gimme Three Steps" off Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1973 debut album. Read more

Kurt Cobain will make his video game debut this September when Guitar Hero 5 hits stores shelves. The former lead singer and guitarist of Nirvana will be a playable character and perform two of the band's hit singles from Nevermind: "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and a previously unreleased live recording of "Lithium."

Sure to have something to please everyone, other artists featured in Guitar Hero 5 are Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, plus more than 25 artists from a variety of music genres.

New features of Guitar Hero 5 are:

  • Party Play: players can jump in or drop out of gameplay seamlessly
  • RockFest: a competitive experience with five new head-to-head
