Xirlink and Reality Fusion Partner to Offer Interactive Games With Video Cameras

GameCam Software, Included with PC Cameras, Lets Players Get Inside the Game
Feb. 26 -- Xirlink, Inc. a leading developer and manufacturer of digital still, PC and embedded camera products, today announced a partnership with Reality Fusion, the leader in video interaction technology. Xirlink will offer Reality Fusion's GameCam SE software with its PC camera products. The partnership is expected to result in additional product offerings in the future.

The GameCam SE works with the PC camera to capture a player's image and project the image into the game. Players can see themselves on the computer monitor as they interact with PC-generated opponents and objects inside a variety of environments. Rather than using a joystick or a mouse, the camera tracks the players' own gestures and movements to control play. Using simple pointing or pushing gestures in front of the camera, players will find themselves exploring a completely new way to interact with the computer. "This exciting interactive technology will show just how entertaining PC cameras can be," said Tim Martin, Director of Marketing for Xirlink. "Consumers will enjoy a whole new way to use their cameras."

GameCam SE includes interactive Volleyball and Karate, as well as BounceIt and PopTheBubbles interactive screensaver games. GameCam SE will be available in all new PC cameras Xirlink produces under the IBM brand name, including the IBM PC Camera, IBM Net Camera and IBM Net Camerapro. Through this partnership, other Xirlink OEM customers will have similar GameCam titles to choose from if they opt to include the GameCam SE in their private-label cameras.

When users install the complete IBM camera software bundle, GameCam SE is easily accessed via a GameCam icon within the IBM Camera suite software. No joystick or mouse is required. The software is designed for ages 10 and up, and can support multiple players.
