Winebow Introduces Terre Southern Italian Estate Wines
May 2005 -- Winebow (www.winebow.com), which first began introducing American wine drinkers to the great varietals of southern Italy 25 years ago, introduces Terre, a line of high quality and great value wines that capture the essence of the earth from which they're cultivated. Terre, which means land, will debut in late May 2005 with 2003 Primitivo from Puglia, 2003 Nero D'Avola and 2004 Grillo both from Sicily.
"I have always valued the breadth, quality and distinctive taste characteristics of the native varietals from the south of Italy, and I have a long history of introducing these great wines to American wine drinkers," said Leonardo LoCascio, President and CEO of Winebow. "People in the South are very passionate about what they do and this shows in the quality of the wines they produce." Mr. LoCascio created Winebow in 1980 with a small portfolio of wines predominately from southern Italy.
For many, including Mr. LoCascio, southern Italy conjures up images of soft flowing sea breezes, bright blue skies and the unparalleled warmth and hospitality of a people who feel close to their land. This was the vision behind Terre, to make the south of Italy come to life through the great native wines.
The label designs of each invoke images of rugged mountainous landscapes, ancient edifices and sweeping panoramas of the sea. The red wines symbolize the land while the whites represent the sea. Terre wines are great for every day enjoyment and embody the unique personalities and taste characteristics of the land from which they come.
