Unveiling of Survivor: The Interactive Game for Mac

Actual Cast Members, Lavish 3D Environments and Intense Challenges Highlight Eagerly Anticipated Game Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Delivering the globally popular television series Survivor(TM) to a new medium, MacSoft, an Infogrames, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFGM) label and CBS Consumer Products have announced the making of Survivor: The Interactive Game for the Mac. The first release in a new line of interactive games for the Survivor franchise, Survivor: The Interactive Game is slated for release this fall on both Mac and PC platforms. The game features the real-life casts from the first and second season of the Survivor television series and the option to create your own character.

Developed by Gold Creek Technology, the interactive game will have in-depth character interaction, immunity challenges, tribal councils and other exciting elements from the show.

"Survivor has taken the world by storm," said Paul Rinde, senior vice president and general manager of Infogrames, Inc. "It's only natural that this wildly popular phenomenon become an interactive game. With Survivor: The Interactive Game millions of fans will finally get the opportunity to participate in the game they have only been able to watch until now."

"MacSoft has a successful history of developing award-winning products that appeal to a broad demographic in the Mac community," said Kenneth Ross, Vice President and General Manager, CBS Consumer Products. "We're confident that the Survivor brand will benefit from their expertise, and are excited to bring this extraordinarily popular television series into the interactive game publishing arena."

In Survivor: The Interactive Game for the Mac, players choose any of the cast members from the first or second season of the show, or create their own character. When creating a character, players must allocate points across 10 different skill categories, which include strength, cooking, communication, swimming, aggression and intelligence. The strategies deployed must complement the skill sets of a player, as they will greatly impact the player's ability to survive both tribal council and nature's elements.

Once the game begins, each player chooses a role or task to complete, such as cook, hunter/fisherman or water carrier. The roles played will affect player standing within the group, and can either hurt or help when tribal council arrives. At tribal council, players will get the opportunity to vote off other remaining survivors and experience all of the rituals featured in the television series.

Forming alliances and keeping strong relationships are crucial to achieving victory. From the character screen, players can view their feelings and alliances with each of the other members ranging from weak to neutral to strong, and manage them accordingly. In addition to performing basic survival tasks and managing relationships, players of Survivor: The Interactive Game are challenged to participate in exciting competitions for rewards and immunity, such as Fire and Rain, and Crocodile Walkabout.

Under terms of the previously announced agreement with CBS Consumer Products, Infogrames, Inc. acquired the exclusive rights to develop and publish interactive games based on the Survivor television series in the United States and Canada for PC and Mac, as well as current and next-generation console platforms, including handheld systems.
