Umixit Teams Up with Columbia Records on Joe Perry DualDisc

April 2005 - Umixit Technologies, the creator of an exciting interactive CD-enhancement allowing regular consumers to place themselves in a virtual studio setting with their favorite artist, has partnered with Columbia Records to include two Umixit tracks on legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry’s forthcoming solo album entitled Joe Perry due out May 3rd.

The eagerly-awaited new solo album from Perry, guitarist and songwriter for multi-platinum recording artist Aerosmith, is his first since 1984, and will be released as a DualDisc, with a DVD side containing exclusive Umixit tracks for the songs “Push Comes to Shove” and “Mercy.”

National retailers Best Buy and Sam Goody will support the Joe Perry release by adding the CD to their in-store Umixit kiosks, giving customers a chance to try out the technology while listening to the new Joe Perry tracks.

"The great thing about UmixIt is that fans can use their imagination and creativity." said Perry. "They get to go into the original instrumental and vocal tracks and create their own versions of the songs just like they're in the studio with me. It also gives them a new perspective on the music they listen to because they can strip it down to its most basic element and then re-build it the way their own ears hear it. They can mix, re-mix and replace tracks with their own performances to their heart's content. The ultimate karaoke machine."

Umixit is the interactive future of recorded music. With a Umixit-enabled CD and a personal computer, any music fan can edit selected songs one instrument at a time and make their own mixes and remixes. In addition, any amateur musician or aspiring vocalist can plug into their computer through a sound card and participate directly, karaoke-style with the song - giving them the rare opportunity to play alongside their idols and learn from professional musicians. Get to know Joe’s music by simply placing his DualDisc (DVD-side) into your home or office PC.
