September 12, 2002 – – TMX2, a new division of America’s best selling watch brand aimed squarely at a younger, yet stylistically sophisticated clientele, announces one of the smallest and most versatile devices for listening to compressed music files. With a full complement of high-tech features and a myriad of carrying options, the TMX2 P3 System differentiates itself from the increasingly crowded ranks of digital audio players.

At just over 2 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide, the player’s miniscule proportions belie the system’s comprehensive list of features including:

  • PC and Mac compatibility
  • Portable storage device (holds up to 2 hours of music or 64MB of any type of digital file)
  • USB connection for speedy downloads
  • “Plug and Play” technology (no software driver required)
  • 4 equalizer settings (rock, classical, jazz and normal)
  • MusicMatch jukebox music management software
  • Time and date
  • Stopwatch/alarm/countdown timer
  • Indiglo night-light

In addition to its impressive list of functions, the TMX2 MP3 System is a mass storage device capable of holding all types of computer files including JPEGs, Word and Excel documents. This forward-thinking feature, unique among smaller “flash” type players, allows users to carry digital documents for uploading and accessing these files in other computers.

The system’s feature set makes it standout among the most user-friendly compact digital audio players on the market. Its three distinct carrying options give it an equal measure of go-anywhere convenience. The system’s player pod can be worn around the neck on a lanyard, clipped to a belt-loop, backpack or just about anywhere else with the Grip Clip cradle/docking station or worn like a watch on a wrist strap. Whichever method is preferred, all three choices are included with every TMX2 MP3 System.

“We weren’t about to bring just another personal MP3 player into a field already packed with cookie-cutter products” says George Fox, Senior Brand Manager for TMX. “We pushed the envelope for this technology by providing the user with options and versatility through innovative, useful design. “

Arriving at Radio Shack and selected specialty stores in October and priced around $150, the TMX2 MP3 System will be offered in several color options, each with 64MB memory capacity. This revolutionary new Timex product is being launched with a national campaign created by New York advertising shop, The Sloan Group. The effort features photography by world renowned designer and photographer Todd Oldham. Oldham was selected because the ironic and humorous concepts married well to his sense of style and youthful appeal.
