Joydesk Business 2.51 Launches With Joy2Go! WAP for Easy Access to E-Mail and Collaboration Applications While on the Road
May 2 -- Accessing information anywhere, anytime just got easier for small- to medium-sized businesses, as VirtualTek today launched a new version of its popular Joydesk office suite of e-mail and collaboration applications. This latest version also turns any WAP-enabled phone into a portable office by adding on VirtualTek's Joy2Go! WAP application, providing access to e-mail, calendar, address book, task list and to-do list information while on the road.

Joydesk Business Edition 2.51 is ideal for small- to medium-sized businesses (up to 5000 employees), corporate field offices, schools and non- profit organizations to instantly create a scalable Intranet environment. Joydesk offers fully featured web-based e-mail, file sharing, group calendars, task lists, personal address books, employee directories and public message boards. Joy2Go! WAP provides the full functionality of the web-based suite on mobile phones with the HDML and WML-WAP protocols. Synchronization capabilities will soon be available between Outlook, mobile phones and Personal Digital Assistants with VirtualTek's Joy2Go! Sync extension. Joydesk and Joy2Go! can be installed and running in less than 20 minutes, and the relatively hassle-free maintenance eliminates the need for dedicated IT resources. Both applications run on a web server, so no client software installation is required.

In addition to offering Joy2Go! WAP, this latest version of Joydesk Business includes a high performance open source database that runs 40 percent faster than previous versions, as well as offers a range of back-up management tools.

Joydesk Business 2.51 runs on Linux kernel 2.2x or higher and Red Hat Linux 6.0 or higher, and Cobalt Qube 3; 64MB minimum RAM required (128MB recommended), with 500MB minimum available hard disk space (2GB recommended). Client requirements include Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000 O/S or Linux O/S with any browser supporting HTML 3.2 and JavaScript and Macintosh O/S with the Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 & 4.5 browser. Joy2Go! WAP requires an Internet-ready wireless device with HDML or WML-WAP browser.
