Techno Source Ships One Million Intellivision Units in 12 Months

August 2004 – Techno Source, a privately held toy company and a leader in electronic toys, games, and learning aids, announced today that it has shipped one million units of its retro gaming Intellivision line since its debut in July, 2003. This milestone was achieved in less than one year and solidifies the company’s position as a leader in both the retro gaming and the TV Play System markets. Due to the success of the initial line, the company also announced that it would be creating several new SKUs.

Intellivision was first introduced in 1980, quickly establishing itself as a leader in the gaming world with classic games such as Astromash, Night Stalker and Space Armada. Techno Source’s line includes Intellivision 10 and 25, complete video games systems with either 10 or 25 games preprogrammed into a stand-alone gaming controller that simply plugs into a television set. The initial line also features several LCD-based handheld games, all retailing for under $10, available in three different models, Standard, Vibra-Action, and a 2-Player System.

“We are extremely pleased at how well our Intellivision games are being received by both retro fans and new gamers alike,” said Eric Levin, Executive Vice President of Techno Source. “I believe these kinds of results are a testament to our ability to not only tap into the retro gaming community, but also to make retro brands relevant to today’s kids--reaching the one million mark in just a year is really exciting, and the numbers keep rising.”

"We teamed with Techno Source because they saw Intellivision as a collection of exciting, addictive games, not as something that should be collecting dust in a museum,” said Keith Robinson, president, Intellivision Productions Inc. ‘While many people remember the games fondly from their childhood, we've always believed that their allure is more than nostalgia, it's how much fun they still are to play! Techno Source saw that and aimed these products at gamers of all ages. A million plus sales proves they were right!"
