Feb. 26 -- ACD Systems International Inc. today released PicaView 2.0, a fast and multi-purpose tool for managing digital images within Windows Explorer.
"Above all, PicaView 2.0 is convenient and quick for users of all levels of experience because it runs within the familiar Explorer window," said Doug Vandekerkhove, President and CEO of ACD Systems. "PicaView will prepare image files for uses such as sharing and e-mailing while at the same time preserving system resources because you don't need to launch a dedicated multimedia program."

With PicaView 2.0, users can remain in Windows Explorer to preview thumbnails of their image and multimedia files simply by right-clicking on the file. Users can navigate through online image libraries while at the same time manipulating, editing and sharing their images. By clicking on the thumbnail, PicaView displays the image in its built-in image viewer. PicaView 2.0 is ACD's latest application in a full suite of digital imaging products based around ACDSee, the world's most popular tool for digital image viewing, browsing, managing and sharing. Using ACDSee program code and plug-ins, PicaView supports more than 35 popular image formats (including animated GIF) and provides conversion into 10 different formats. Users can change images and groups of images from one type to another (PCD, TIFF to BMP, JPG, and so on) without any loss in image quality.

Other convenient features of PicaView 2.0 include the ability to print single images or contact sheets and to link directly to ACD Systems' free SendPix service, allowing users to share images via the Internet. PicaView 2.0 can be purchased on-line at http://www.ACDSYSTEMS.com/english/products/picaview for $29.95 or can be accessed from the same address on a trial basis for up to 45 days. ACDSee 3.1 can be purchased on-line at http://www.ACDSYSTEMS.com/english/products/acdsee for $49.95 or can be accessed from the same address on a trial basis for up to 90 days.
