SKIN ChronoJune 25, 2001-- Swatch, the leading wrist-watch manufacturer, has completed the launch of the SKIN Chrono, the thinnest Chronograph the world has ever seen. The latest addition to the Swatch brand is just 6.6 mm thin and was unveiled in a spectacular event last week at ONERA, the French National Aerospace Research organization’s massive wind tunnel at Modane in France. The SKIN Chrono, is now on sale throughout the world in its 3 different forms: Phenomenon, Outrage and Flatzone.

SKIN Chrono - The Thinnest Chronograph
A Chronograph is a watch that has a stopwatch function and the technical challenges of meeting the requirements of such a thin, yet fully functioning chronograph, were enormous. For over three years, teams of designers worked to totally re-invent the watch movement and to integrate all the components in the watch head. Other watch makers' thinnest chronographs range from 10.5 mm to 9,0 mm.

Yet Swatch has fused function with looks and technical elegance, while not losing their trademark cutting edge styling. Swatch has broken away from conventional chronograph design and the result is an uncomplicated, minimalist profile.

Each of the Chrono trio are a statement to the finesse of the Swatch "art" of designing and constructing timepieces. Flatzone uses fashion forward materials as it unites an open link/slot metal design bracelet with a transparent plastic case. Its fresh face supports three sub dials set inside an inverted abstract triangle. Outrage maintains a sporty profile while keeping in touch with classic styling thus giving it a serious multifunction sport watch look. Phenomenon delivers a cool minimalist look, with an overall black presence from its thin strap and case to its dial.

The Swatch SKIN Chrono range are all quartz precision, shock resistant and water resistant to 30 meters.
