Sony Ericsson Unveils New Camera Phones and Accessories
March 9, 2004--Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today introduces the T237 mobile phone, a color screen GSM/GPRS handset that combines the essential features consumers desire, while offering a fun, easy-to-use, compact design. The Sony Ericsson T237 packs picture messaging, downloadable gaming, Internet connectivity and simple menu navigation into a lightweight and affordable mobile phone experience.
The T237 makes it easy for users to stay connected and share the fun with family and friends. With the Sony Ericsson CommuniCam MCA-30 snap-on accessory, consumers can capture, view or send their images to a PC or a compatible mobile phone through photo messaging. The images can also be saved in the phonebook for customized Picture Caller ID. In addition, consumers can choose ringtones from the several embedded polyphonic tones, or take personalization one step further creating different ringtones with the iMelody MIDI composer.
Images and games on the T237 are enhanced by the 4,096 color-screen, 32-tone polyphonic sound and vibrating force feedback. By connecting to the Internet with the phone's WAP browser, users can download games and challenge other online players.
For on-the-go users, the T237 supports voice activated dialing and phonebook and calendar PC synchronization. The phone can be combined with the Stereo FM Radio Handsfree HPR-20 to stay in tune with music and news. In addition, the T237 has speakerphone functionality when hands free call handling is essential.
The T237 in Blade Grey is a dual band 850/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS handset and will be available in Q2 2004. The CommuniCam MCA-30 and Stereo FM Radio Handsfree HPR-20 accessories are sold separately and are available now.
Sony Ericsson Unveils the S700
The S700 camera phone with QuickShare has an innovative swivel-opening design. It offers a stylish and unique three-way communication style; photo shoot, browse and talk, text and e-mail. The S700 also takes mobile imaging to the next level, featuring an integrated 1.3 megapixel CCD digital camera for taking high quality photos and a 2.3 inch 262K TFT color screen to display digital quality images. Compatibility with Memory Stick Duo extends the memory capacity of the S700 to fully support this new style of mobile imaging.
Compatibility with Memory Stick Duo, Bluetooth and Infrared, the S700 offers a wide range of connectivity options so images or video clips can be stored or transferred for editing and easy enjoyment on a PC or other consumer devices.
With a 3D gaming engine from Hi Corp, the S700 is also a robust gaming device and comes loaded with embedded Java games. The phone offers a host of additional exciting entertainment applications such as an MP3 music player, mobile music service, Music DJ(TM) ringtone composer, and 40 polyphonic ringtones.
The S700 will be available in Q4 2004.
Sony Ericsson Akono HBH-600 Bluetooth Headset
Sony Ericsson today unveiled the latest addition to its portfolio of Bluetooth Handsfree solutions; the Akono Headset HBH-600. The HBH-600 retains all the key characteristics of the popular HBH-65 headset - it is light, stylish and ideal for active people on-the-go. In addition the HBH-600 also brings a new level of personalization to handsfree solutions with exchangeable Style-Up covers that allow users to personalize their accessory to reflect individual style. The HBH-600 will be available in Q2 2004.
With the consumer in mind, much work has gone into making the HBH-600 as practical and easy-to-use as possible. The ear loop is flexible enough to fit most ears and sturdy enough to hold the headset firmly in place. The user can put it on with one hand and move around freely by just pressing a button on the control unit to answer or reject calls. A strap, included in the kit, makes sure that the headset is always at hand without being in the way.
The Akono Headset HBH-600 comes with two exchangeable Style-Up covers and color variety can be increased with the Style-Up Kit ISK-600, which contains five covers in different colors and a case to protect the headset when not in use. Sony Ericsson Unveils the Bluetooth Media Viewer MMV-100
Sony Ericsson today unveiled the innovative and fun Bluetooth Media Viewer MMV-100. It takes Bluetooth wireless technology to a new level and expands the number of ways images and audio can be transferred between devices. The MMV-100 plugs directly into a TV or digital projector, allowing users to send images from a mobile phone to a large screen via Bluetooth wireless technology. The MMV-100 will be available in Q2 2004.
The Media Viewer can be used with a TV or digital projector expanding the use of Bluetooth technology. The new Media Viewer goes beyond pairing one phone with one Bluetooth device. The MMV-100 can handle 'many-to-one' connectivity, meaning several people can use their phones to transfer images to one screen. It also enables the transfer of AMR and MP3 audio files directly from a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone allowing music files to be enjoyed through the television or home speakers.
In addition, the MMV-100 is also an easy-to-use work tool. Presentations saved as images and stored on a mobile phone such as the K700 or S700 can be transferred via Bluetooth to a larger screen in a meeting or conference room.
The MMV-100 supports the following Bluetooth profiles: File Transfer Profile (FTP), Object Push Profile (OPP) and Basic Imaging Profile (BIP). It can be used with the Sony Ericsson K700, S700, P900, P800, T630, T610/T616, and T68i phones (functionality may vary depending on phone). The MMV-100 connects to a TV or projector through the SCART or via stereo audio/video RCA cable and there will be variants for both PAL and NTSC formats.
Sony Ericsson Brings Unique Camera Style with the K700 Camera Phone
Today, Sony Ericsson unveiled the new K700 camera phone featuring the latest in imaging, multimedia, and entertainment functions, as well as a rich offering of advanced messaging and connectivity technologies. This includes, for example, playing video clips, capturing images and video with the built-in camera and listening to the built-in FM radio. Form follows function in this attractively designed phone which features dual fronts; one for the phone features and the other for a true camera look and feel, moving closer to design-language inspired by Sony's digital cameras.
With the integrated VGA camera, consumers can take still pictures as well as video clips and either store them in the phone's memory or send them as a picture message or an e-mail. Owing to Sony Ericsson's much appreciated QuickShare feature, it is very simple to use the imaging features of the K700. This triple-band GSM/GPRS phone has a 65k TFT color display, facilitating high-quality multimedia and entertainment and the built-in speaker supports polyphonic sound for clear ring signals and game sound effects. To accommodate the multimedia functions of the K700, it has 32MB built-in memory for storage of content such as pictures, music, ringtones, themes, games and video clips, allowing for storage of up to 450 images, making the K700 an ideal personal photo album.
The intuitive user interface provides easy access to all features, including download services such as ringtones, images, videos and games. A powerful application solution for Java 3D with cutting edge graphics, multi-player games, is featured on the K700, integrating smoothly into the Sony Ericsson games offering.
With its FM radio, up to 20 favorite radio stations can be stored in the K700 with the preset function. The radio, or even MP3 files, can be listened to through a portable handsfree or through the phone's speaker.
With Bluetooth, the K700 works well with Sony Ericsson's broad range of Bluetooth accessories, such as portable handsfree sets, music players and the Bluetooth Car. The K700 will be on the market during Q2 2004.
