Anchorage is the base of operations for this Alaskan Wilderness Multi-Sport adventure. The trip starts with a scenic bike ride along turquoise-colored Eklutna Lake. Views of towering mountains and distant glaciers are punctuated by valley wildlife like Dall sheep, moose, and eagles. After a hiking to a waterfall, a scenic flight to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and the Kennicott Glacier Lodge set spectacularly at the foot of Root Glacier begins day two. Two days are needed to hike, and explore the region with an expert naturalist guide. Another option is to spend a day of introductory ice climbing or glacier hiking. Day four starts with a spectacular drive through Wrangell-St. Elias National Park to Vladez, "Alaska's Little Switzerland." Here the tour gets wet rafting on the Class III-IV Tsaina River through narrow gorges and past waterfalls. Valdez is the gateway to Prince William Sound. Day five is spent learning the basics of kayak paddling and exploring the Sound's shoreline and spectacular tidewater glaciers. Day six provides an unforgettable Alaskan experience, a ferry ride across Prince William Sound, surrounded by mountains, forests, and tidewater glaciers. Keep alert for whales, sea otters, seals, sea lions, eagles and clouds of sea birds. Then hike in either Winner Creek Gorge, exploring the northernmost temperate rain forest in North America or Byron Glacier. The tour ends in Anchorage, with satisfied nature and sports enthusiasts who have truly lived the ultimate Alaskan experience.
