Siemens Introduces Tri-band S40 Mobile Phone With Global Calling Capability

S40 phoneSiemens announced that it will market the S40, a triple band Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) mobile phone with Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) and High Speed Circuit Switched Data (HSCSD) functionality, in the U.S. The S40 is the first triple band phone to be launched by Siemens, and is a true global companion with exceptional performance, high-end functionality, and a stunning design that includes a galvanized front and a blue illuminated display.
The S40 is capable of high-speed Web browsing using WAP 1.1, enabling easy access to graphic-intensive Internet content or fast download of information on demand. It is also equipped to handle file transfers and synchronization of Microsoft Outlook calendar, address book, and notes.

Features and Benefits
Weighing only 3.4 ounces, the S40 is one of the smallest and lightest mobile phones in its class. The thin Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery lasts for up to 260 hours, with a talk time of up to 360 minutes. The phone comes with a travel charger, data cable and lithium-Ion battery. A wide range of accessories including a desktop charger, car charger, car kit, hands-free headset, and several carrying cases are all available for purchase. Additional key features include:

Availability
Siemens and Cingular Wireless have agreed to cooperate on sales and service for the S40 cellphone in the USA. Cingular Wireless servers more than 19 million customers and will be launching the Siemens S40 on the US market in March 2001.
