Samsung Rolls Out the Next Wave in Portable Digital Audio Players

Samsung Electronics introduces its next generation of digital audio players with the Hip-Hop and Techno YEPPs. The new YEPPs have a number of key features and a fashionably colorful look that make these portable digital audio players faster, lighter in weight and with a sleeker look than the previous generation. The Hip-Hop and Techno YEPPs join Samsung's popular YEPP E-32 and 64, which were introduced earlier this year.

The new YEPPs feature an advanced USB port for ultimate speed when uploading your favorite music. The USB port is three to five times faster (up to eight MB per second) than the parallel port's one to two MB per second.

The YEPPs come with 32 MB of memory at an MSRP of $169.99, or 64 MB of memory at an MSRP of $249.99. Each MB of memory is equivalent to 1 to 1½ minutes of CD-quality music.

Samsung's Hip-Hop YEPP is slimmer and trimmer, making it the perfect undetectable music companion. The Hip-Hop YEPP comes in two translucent colors (blue and orange) and is smaller than its predecessor, bringing it down to a remarkable 1.7 ounces. The tiny 3.2" x 2.4" x .97" frame makes it one of the smallest and lightest portable players with its memory capacity on the market. The Techno YEPP is similar in size to its predecessor at 3.3" x 2.6" x .75", but weighs slightly less at 2.6 ounces. The Techno YEPP keeps the retro silver look and adds a round LCD screen. Both YEPPS retain some of the key features of the original, including the 4-mode equalizer with 3D sound effect, the 32 MB/64 MB of built-in flash memory and a SmartMedia card slot for up to 64 MB of additional memory.

In addition, the USB port allows the YEPPs to be both Mac and PC compatible. They also come with a remote that attaches to the headphones, allowing volume control and song selection to be changed, while the YEPP is in your bag or pocket.

In order to enhance the music listener's experience, Samsung has bundled RealJukebox music management software from RealNetworks, Inc. with Its Hip-Hop and Techno YEPP digital audio players. Hip-Hop and Techno YEPPs are CDDB EnabledSM so that they can display the track titles of music files provided by the CDDB Disc Recognition Service during the file recording process of the RealJukebox software. The Hip-Hop and Techno YEPP users will be able to enjoy their player right away by listening to dozens of digital music files that have been provided by EMusic.com and MP3.com for bundling with the Hip-Hop YEPP and Techno YEPP.
