Samsung Announces the First 15-inch Flat-Panel Monitor Under $500
New 570vTFT Makes Owning a Sleek Flat-Panel More Affordable Than Ever
San Jose, CA. - Samsung, the world's number one manufacturer of CRT and TFT displays, is leading the movement of TFTs into the mainstream with breakthrough pricing on its new SyncMaster 570vTFT. The space-saving 570vTFT is the first 15" flat-panel display to be offered in the U.S. by a major manufacturer for under $500. Samsung is offering a $50 introductory rebate on the display that brings the street price down to $499 through June 2001.
The 570vTFT is perfect for home, SOHO, corporate users and students who want the luxury of flat-panel display technology without spending a fortune on their monitor. The SyncMaster 570vTFT is currently shipping.
According to Fred Garcia, Director of Marketing for Samsung's Digital Information Technology Division, "As the monitor market shifts to TFTs, Samsung is leading this movement by giving consumers the opportunity to experience the power and benefits of flat-panel displays at the most affordable prices ever. The SyncMaster 570v is another example of how Samsung is smashing price barriers and bringing TFT monitors to mainstream consumers."
Samsung's 570vTFT is the most affordable display solution for business, home and student users who want all the space-saving benefits of a flat-panel display. Taking up just a third of the desktop space of a traditional CRT monitor, the 570vTFT offers enhanced TFT viewing with it's crisp 15" Samsung screen, 0.297 dot pitch and 1024 x 768 @ 75Hz maximum resolution.
With rising electricity costs and energy concerns such as the current crisis in California, the 570vTFT is also a great way to save power and money. Using Samsung's four-stage power management system, the 570vTFT consumes approximately only 30% of the power of a similar sized CRT-- monitor about the same as a 25-watt light bulb. All Samsung monitors comply with the VESA DPMS, NUTEK and Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star standards.
The SyncMaster 570vTFT also offers USB capability via an optional USB Hub. USB simplifies connectivity desktop peripherals -- such as the keyboard, mouse, joystick, printer or scanner -- and offers improved PC-to-peripheral performance. Samsung's self-powered USB Hub includes four downstream ports and one upstream port eliminating desktop clutter by allowing up to 127 USB peripherals to be connected to the PC through the monitor instead of via the desktop's parallel and serial ports.
For easy installation and optimum configuration, the 570vTFT has built-in Plug and Play capability that conforms to the Video Electronics Standards Association's (VESA) Display Data Channel (DDC) Type 1/2B standards. When used with the appropriate hardware and software, Plug and Play automatically configures the monitor with the host computer and selects the optimum resolution and refresh rates to achieve crisp detail, bright colors and razor sharp images.
In addition, the SyncMaster 570vTFT incorporates an ergonomic design that allows the monitor's screen to be detached quickly and easily from the base for wall mounting. The VESA mounting standard ensures easy attachment to any standard mounting arm.
The 570vTFT is backed by Samsung's three-year parts, labor and backlight warranty as well as live, toll-free technical support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Samsung's SyncMaster CRT and TFT displays can be found at CompUSA, Best Buy, Fry's and Micro Center as well as major resellers and e-tailers.
