Roxio Introduces PhotoSuite 5 Platinum

March 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Roxio announced today its new PhotoSuite 5 Platinum software. This is the first major upgrade of the award-winning software since Roxio released its PhotoSuite 4 Platinum in late 2000. The new version offers a complete, integrated and powerful feature set that performs all the tasks that are most important to consumers, such as capturing, organizing, enhancing, creating, burning and sharing their collection of photos in print, online, via email, or on a CD -- all in an easy-to-use workflow and interface.

PhotoSuite 5 Platinum Edition anticipates the needs of the user by automating complex editing tasks, enabling those new to digital photography to get professional looking results with minimal effort, while offering robust tools for the more advanced user. The new CD burning capabilities, powered by Roxio's leading Easy CD Creator technology, make it easy for consumers to save precious photos to CDs or create slide shows onto Video CDs, which can be shared and played back on most DVD players.

For a suggested retail price of $49.95, PhotoSuite 5 Platinum provides users the ability to:

-- Easily burn photo slide shows to Video CD for playback in most DVD players and burn photos to CD for archival and protection.
-- Automatically fix exposure, saturation, sharpness and even red-eye in a single mouse click, enabling consumers to effortlessly achieve professional-looking results.
-- Conveniently make changes to multiple photos simultaneously.
-- Create personalized photo projects such as greeting cards, invitations, calendars, collages, and CD labels.
-- Stitch together a series of photos into a seamless panorama.
-- Organize, sort, and search for photos in electronic albums.

"The wide availability of low cost, high quality digital cameras is making digital photography a mass market phenomenon," said Vito Salvaggio, Roxio's vice president of product management. "PhotoSuite's intuitive workflow allows these users to be immediately productive, while offering enough feature depth for them to grow with the application, or for those more advanced, to have the control they desire."

InfoTrends Research Group estimates that the low-end digital camera market (under $1,000) shipments will almost double in the next five years in North America, from an estimated 9.5 million in 2002 to 18.7 million in 2007.

"As the digital camera market continues to mature, more consumers advance along the learning curve for digital imaging and many begin to look for more comprehensive photo editing and photo management capabilities than what usually comes with their cameras," said Michelle Slaughter, director for InfoTrends Research Group. "Additionally, consumers' collection of digital images continue to increase, and they need a simple solution to manage and store them. By adding the ability to burn to CD to its range of capabilities, Roxio's PhotoSuite is well-positioned to take advantage of the continued industry growth."
