Romance in the Rainforest

January 10, 2006 - The Gamboa Rainforest Resort at the Panama Canal invites couples to enjoy a unique romantic escape, perfect for Valentine's Day. Romance in the Rainforest offers guests an intimately secluded experience within the natural beauty of the rainforest.

Romance in the Rainforest includes three nights in the Romance Suite, a relaxing Rainforest River Experience couples' massage on a floating spa through the Chagres River and an intimate dinner at the resort's Corotu Terrace, followed by a nocturnal safari tour. This special package is available for US$2,500.00 and is valid February 1 through May 30, 2006. For reservations, please contact the resort's General Manager Fidel Reyes via email atfreyes@gamboaresort.com or call 011- (507) 314-9000.

The Rainforest River Experience couples' massage is set on a pontoon boat, utilizing the calming sounds and scents of the Panamanian rainforest and the floating sensation created by the boat as it drifts up the Chagres River. Couples can chose from one of three 60-minute massages including the Californian, Therapeutic or Swedish. Following the massage, guests will be able to sip champagne and snack on delicacies native to Panama, while enjoying the serene surroundings.

In the evening, couples will take pleasure in the scenic and romantic setting of the Corotu Terrace, an imitate patio set above ground in a grand Corotu tree. With soft white lights hanging from the tree over the terrace, a gourmet candlelight dinner for two will be served as guests enjoy the sunset over the Panama Canal and the Chagres River.

To top off the evening, a resort guide will lead the couple on an exceptional nocturnal safari under the starlit sky. To complement this intimate journey through the jungle, dessert and after-dinner drinks will be served.

Located in the heart of the Soberania National Park where wildlife is abundant, the Gamboa Rainforest Resort at the Panama Canal is designed to bring together the preservation of nature and the history of Panama, while showcasing one of the country's greatest treasures - the Panama Canal. The Gamboa Rainforest Resort combines these elements to create a first-class vacation experience where visitor and nature co-exist.

In addition to its ecological amenities, the resort boasts a full- service spa, three restaurants, three bars, old-world library and sitting room, meetings facilities, oversized swimming pool, two tennis courts, marina and heliport. Accommodations include 107 guest rooms and suites, as well as 48 refurbished villas that date back to the 1930s when they housed civilian families of Panama Canal workers. The 340-acre resort lies in the center of the Panamanian Isthmus, just 25 miles from both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, 17 miles from the City of Panama, and 31 miles from Tocumen International Airport.
