ReplayTV to Ship First 60-Hour Single-Drive Digital Video Recorder

ReplayTV announced today that it plans to ship a new 60 hour single-drive digital video recorder, the first in the DVR category with twice the recording capacity of any on the market today. The ReplayTV 3060 contains the largest single drive for digital video recording, which dramatically increases capacity for recording favorite TV programs and recording in higher-quality modes. This single-drive product decreases power consumption and produces less heat and noise than dual-drive design DVRs. The ReplayTV 3060, which includes the free ReplayTV Service, will be priced at $799 and will be available in a few weeks.

The ReplayTV 3060 contains the Maxtor DiamondMax 60 GB hard disk, which as a single drive has advantages over dual drives DVRs such as consuming less power, and generating significant measures of less heat and noise. By including the Maxtor drive, the ReplayTV 3060 requires no upgrades, special features or technology to handle increased recording capacity.

With ReplayTV, viewers can pause, instant replay, rewind, QuickSkip, frame advance and watch in slow motion their favorite sports events and TV shows. Using ReplayTV personal television technology with the free ReplayTV Service, viewers don't have to miss their favorite programs because ReplayTV automatically searches, finds and records them for anytime playback. Viewers can also create personal channels based on themes or shows. Every time viewers sit down to watch TV, the most current episodes of their favorite shows will be available on ReplayTV.

ReplayTV Service Gives TV A Brain
The free ReplayTV Service gives viewers greater convenience, choice and control over their television viewing. ReplayZones categorize television entertainment by content and provide even more ways for viewers to find the shows and movies they want. ReplayZones include editorial zones such as the Movie! Zone that features a variety of selections including action-adventure, drama, classics, comedy, family films, science fiction and teen comedy. By selecting a category such as classics, viewers can see a list of upcoming classic movies in listings and select the desired one for automatic recording.

Using the Find Shows feature, viewers can search for keywords by typing in the name of an actor, director, show title or even a topic like "dogs." Within seconds, all movies, talk shows or other programs matching that keyword that are slated to air during the next week are listed on the screen. These shows can be recorded with the touch of a button for on-demand playback at a later time. The ReplayTV Service includes the recently introduced MyReplayTV, a web portal where viewers can find out about TV programming, gather additional information about shows of interest and control the ReplayTV Service and digital video recorder via the Internet.

Pricing and Availability
ReplayTV 3060 with 60 hours of storage is priced at $799 and includes the free ReplayTV Service. Through September 30 consumers will also receive a $100 rebate with purchase for a reduced price of $699.
