Relax in the 'Shade' in Manhattan Beach
June 27, 2005 -- Having imparted his design sensibilities to television and radio audiences, retail consumers and readers across the U.S., Emmy Award-winning "lifestylist" Christopher Lowell has been hired as the executive designer of Shade, the first luxury boutique hotel to be built in Manhattan Beach, California. Shade exemplifies his design idea for the future: a sleek and sexy public space for the contemporary man and woman.
Shade, scheduled to open in October 2005, is a privately owned, highly personalized, service-intensive boutique hotel emulating the character and style of Manhattan Beach. Manhattan beach is synonymous with casual California beach culture. A premier spot to relax and unwind, Manhattan Beach has become a place to dine, shop, and now sleep....in style. Designed to maximize comfort and inspire relaxation while capturing the essence of coastal living, its 38 rooms will offer such luxurious features as king-size Tempur-Pedic beds with 400-thread count Egyptian cotton linens, down comforters and designer duvets, an ambient lighting system, soothing rain shower, fireplace (some rooms), espresso machine, flat-screen Panasonic TVs, Sanijet spa tubs, and much more. The hotel will also offer rooftop yoga classes and a Zinc Wine bar. The neighboring Metlox center will offer access to a breadth of offsite spa treatments, boutique shops, a bakery, ice cream shop and a variety of eateries. The hotel will also feature a stainless steel pool on its rooftop deck. The website, currently in development, is at www.shadehotel.com.
