Polaroid Introduces New izone200 Instant Camera for Teens
Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid Corporation today announced its newly designed Polaroid izone200 instant camera, which is 30 percent smaller than its predecessor. Polaroid's original i-Zone camera, introduced five years ago, is the number-one selling branded camera in the United States. The compact new izone200 features a stylish white-and-blue sparkle casing and is ideal for instantly capturing the school year's best moments with the same cool 1 x 1 1/2 inch stamp-sized, instant color and sticker photos that have proven so irresistible with today's youth as a way to personalize virtually anything.
Why is the izone camera so popular? Now more than ever, teens are looking for new ways to differentiate and express themselves -- as evidenced by the recent popularity of customized clothes, downloadable cell phone rings and personalized instant message icons. A recent TEEN CARAVAN survey of teens ages 12-17, conducted on behalf of Polaroid by Opinion Research Corporation, indicated that an overwhelming 95 percent of teens said that it is important to find creative ways to personalize their environment and express themselves.
"We know that teens like to be unique and want to express themselves in a way that really demonstrates their personality -- which is why the Polaroid izone has become so popular with teens through the years," said Jeff Hopper, vice president and chief marketing officer, Polaroid Corporation. "The new izone200 allows teens to enjoy the fun and spontaneity of instant photography, offering an even better way to show their style, personalize their belongings and capture timeless memories through an important time in their lives."
Nearly 60 percent of the teens surveyed believe the Polaroid izone mini- stickers and photos could help them express themselves, their style and personalize their belongings. The izone200 instant "sticky" photos can be affixed to customize anything and everything -- from lockers and MP3 players to computers and clothing. The mini-photos also can be transformed into photo charm jewelry, used to design personalized stationery or even to create mini- instant albums of their most memorable events and gatherings.
Available in October 2004, the new izone200 is compact (4.5 x 2.55 x 1.42 inches) and features a wrist strap, built-in flash that ranges from two-to- eight feet, and is equipped with a focus-free lens that shoots from two feet and beyond with a shutter speed of 1/250 second.
The new camera will be sold through mass market, photo specialty and select toy stores and online at www.polaroid.com for a suggested retail price of $25.00 (sold with two AAA batteries). The new izone200 instant film will be sold separately for a suggested retail price of $5.99 (non-sticky), $6.99 (sticky) and $17.99 (triple pack).
