Polaroid Introduces New i-Zone Color Changing Instant Camera
Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid Corporation has further enhanced the photo sticker teen phenomenon with the introduction of its newest member to the i-Zone family -- the limited edition i-Zone Color Changing Instant Camera. The camera's unique heat sensitive, thermochromatic technology allows the exterior to change color, from dark blue to light blue, based on an individual's body heat.
"Since 1999, teens have used the i-Zone camera to capture memories and display them on everything from notebooks to locker doors," says Terry Carlson, Polaroid vice president and general manager of North America. "Now teens can expand their i-Zone experience beyond picture taking by finding enjoyment in all taking turns touching the camera and seeing who can change the color."
Ever since the mood ring's introduction in the 1960s, people have enjoyed the personalization that heat sensitive products provide. Decades later, young people continue to enjoy color changing products, from mood nail polish, to pens and stickers, to even tennis shoes! The i-Zone Color Changing Instant Camera allows teens to have an individualized experience with the camera each time they point and click.
The i-Zone Color Changing Instant Camera utilizes thermochromatic technology, which allows it to change colors based on an individual's body heat. The front cover of the camera is painted with a temperature sensitive colorant and a clear glossy finish. The color change occurs because of a chemical reaction within the paint that results in a dye transitioning from a solid to a liquid as heat is applied. When heat is removed, the liquid slowly returns back to a solid and the camera returns to its original color.
Currently the number-one selling camera in the United States(1), the Polaroid i-Zone Camera takes mini-size (1 x 1 1/2 inches) instant photos and photo stickers that can be displayed on notebooks, lockers, journals or anywhere else that people want to showcase their unforgettable memories. To help make the instant photo development process even more enjoyable, Polaroid developed Fortune Film, an i-Zone-exclusive film that reveals fortunes, sayings or jokes on every picture when pulled from the camera -- as the picture develops, the messages slowly fade away. Perfect for on-the-go teens, the i-Zone is ultra-compact, so it's ideal for carrying in a backpack and taking anywhere.
