Polaroid Extends Award Winning Scanner Line with New SprintScan 4000 Plus

Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid Corporation will officially unveil its new enhanced version of the award-winning SprintScan 4000 - the SprintScan 4000 Plus - at the upcoming 2002 Photo Marketing Association International Annual Convention and Trade Show (PMA), February 24 - 27, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.. This new Polaroid scanner provides increased flexibility by offering Firewire and USB connectivity and an increased dynamic range. Similar to the SprintScan 4000, the SprintScan 4000 Plus scans professional quality 35-millimeter slides, filmstrips and Advanced Photo System (APS) film formats without compromise. The enhanced scanner provides an optical resolution of 4,000 dots per inch (dpi), a dynamic range of 4.2 Dmax and a scan time of under a minute for a 35-millimeter slide at 4000 dpi. The SprintScan 4000 Plus also offers Firewire and USB compatibility, making it one of only a few slide and negative scanners on the market to currently offer users an option.

"Polaroid opted to offer the connectivity options for a couple of important reasons," said Stuart Strong, senior marketing manager, professional products, Polaroid Corporation. "With the migration of computer hardware to Firewire and USB, customers have been requesting the new options, so we listened to them and are meeting their needs. In addition, Firewire transfer is known to be up to three time faster than other computer interfaces and will improve workflow efficiencies."

In addition to the advanced features of the SprintScan 4000 Plus, the new scanner comes with two advanced software packages - Polaroid PolaColor Insight Pro and Silverfast Ai 5.5 and HDR by Lasersoft. Combined, the software suite offers simple scans with key features like dodge and burn and dust removal, the ability to create your own film profiles for chromes with the supplied IT8 target, and one-step color correction.
