Play, Record and Replay Favorite Games in Real Time
December 12, 2005 – Adaptec, Inc. today announced Adaptec GameBridge (AVC-1400) and GameBridge TV (AVC-1410). These patent-pending gaming products are an industry first for connecting and playing PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360 and GameCube games on a PC or notebook to leverage significantly enhanced graphics without experiencing any performance delay. In addition, the GameBridge line is unique in allowing gamers to record game sequences and best moves in order to replay and share with friends – an “instant replay capability that is a first for the gaming industry.
With the ability to deliver higher quality resolution – up to 32-bit color 1024 x 768 pixels, a PC Monitor can provide an enhanced gaming environment. However, when connecting and playing console games on a PC or notebook, gamers experience a significant performance delay between moving the joystick and seeing the resulting reaction on screen. Adaptec GameBridge's innovative, patent-pending technology eliminates this delay and delivers the same TV-connected performance while providing a host of additional benefits that were previously unavailable. Now, serious gamers can play, record and replay gaming sequences with contemporaries, enabling learning for strategic games while accumulating bragging rights for individuals.
Adaptec GameBridge TV includes the same gaming features as GameBridge but also delivers media center entertainment features such as watching and recording live TV programs, including the ability to view closed captions and program guides. With a price point under $100 and the most compact design currently available (about the size of a credit card), both models also allow users to easily convert analog VHS or Hi8 home videos to digital media (CD/DVD) for long lasting archives of precious moments, capturing video in MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 formats. Both devices are powered by USB2.0 which eliminates the need for any additional AC power adapters.
"The gaming industry has seen a tremendous amount of growth in recent years and this trend continues as evidenced by the recent introduction of new console game products that have created additional excitement and opportunities. GameBridge products are uniquely positioned to enable PC users to enhance their PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360 and GameCube experience by delivering a significant advancement in gaming and media center entertainment," said Dr. Samuel Chih, vice president and general manager of Adaptec Desktop Solutions Group. "In essence, the personal computer becomes the centralized system for gaming and home entertainment."
"Customers are always on the look out for new technology that will enhance their video entertainment experience. With the ability to record and replay video game sequences and watch and record live TV, Adaptec's GameBridge is a revolutionary new product that will offer consumers a broad range of gaming and digital entertainment experiences on their personal computer," said Joel Boquiren, Category Manager at CompUSA. "We are looking forward to providing our customers with a unique product that will provide them a single solution media entertainment experience."
