Pinnacle Systems Brings Real-Time Uncompressed Effects to Final Cut Pro
CineWave to Take Advantage of New Final Cut Pro 2 Features
March 28 -- Pinnacle Systems today announced that CineWave, the Company's award-winning professional video creation solution, will deliver real-time special effects with uncompressed, standard definition media by leveraging advancements in Apple's Final Cut Pro 2. Final Cut Pro 2 is the next generation of Apple Computer's award-winning professional video editing application.
Video professionals working with uncompressed standard definition (SD) video on Apple's Power Mac G4 systems will now have the power to create motion graphics effects, dissolves and wipes in real-time. Editors will no longer need to wait lengthy periods for effects and transitions to render. CineWave will deliver the best of both worlds -- the pristine quality of uncompressed SD video and the speed of real-time effects. CineWave matched with the high-end editing tools of Final Cut Pro 2 provides the features and performance usually reserved for traditional editing systems costing many times more.
In addition, Power Mac G4 users working with the CineWave high-definition (HD) option will experience accelerated performance when processing effects and transitions.
"With the ability to perform real-time effects and transitions on uncompressed SD video, editors gain greater creative freedom than ever before," notes Laurin Herr, vice president of strategic development, Pinnacle Systems' Professional Media Division. "No longer do professional media creators have to sacrifice quality tools and optimal formats for speed and affordability."
"Final Cut Pro 2 delivers to video professionals powerful new media management tools, dozens of workflow enhancements, and support for integrated real-time effects-a perfect match for CineWave's real-time effects for uncompressed SD video," said David Moody, Apple's senior director of Applications Marketing. "The combination of Final Cut Pro's powerful editing features and CineWave's uncompressed real-time effects gives video professionals access to quality and performance previously reserved for only high end post-production facilities."
CineWave, with real-time effects and transitions, will be demonstrated at NAB 2001, April 23-26, in the Pinnacle Systems booth, L11327. Release is scheduled for summer, 2001.
Pinnacle Systems and Apple are also currently in the process of qualifying the non-RT version of CineWave with Final Cut Pro 2. Release is scheduled for May, 2001.
Pinnacle Systems Continues Real-Time Lead
Pinnacle Systems first introduced real-time processing with the release of CineWave version 1.1. CineWave 1.1 offers real-time 3:2 pull-down via the TARGA Cine HUB-3 video processor. This operation allows for conversion of SD video to HD formats, or down-conversion of HD formats to SD video, with the appropriate letterbox and poster box masking automatically inserted.
