Pictographics Releases New Windows Version of inCamera Professional

November 14, 2001 -- Pictographics International Corporation, a leading digital color technology provider, has released a new Windows version of inCamera(r) Professional, ICC compatible digital camera and display monitor profiling software for professional photographers and photo enthusiasts. inCamera, which had previously been available only for a Mac, solves a major problem found in today's digital photography studio - accurate color capture. inCamera Professional sets the standard for consistent, predictable color. The software makes it easy for professional photographers and others who require high performance from their digital camera, to profile and optimize color accuracy in a controlled lighting environment using a GretagMacbeth ColorChecker(r) Chart or the new ColorChecker(r) DC Chart. inCamera evaluates the color data captured by the camera and compares it to the known color values of the chart. It then quickly and easily creates a custom ICC camera profile for any lighting situation (i.e., direct daylight, tungsten, fluorescent, electronic flash, etc.). The profile is then applied to all images shot under the same conditions, correcting the color distortions of the camera and producing a color-corrected and profiled image ready for use in any project.

inCamera Professional accepts 8-bit or 16-bit color images and is the only software of its kind to combine noise removal with profiling. It automatically applies an adaptive noise removal filter before applying a profile to an image. The software also does display monitor profiling either with or without instruments. The Mac-based version of inCamera has received acclaim from independent experts who, after testing a range of similar offerings, rate it the best product on the market for digital camera profiling. These experts praise not only the power of inCamera's ICC profiling technology, but also the ease with which a profile can be created and the fact that profiles can be edited using the software's unique CandelaColor(r) Profile Editor. This allows the photographer to easily achieve desired effects such as adjusting for color balance, setting new white/black points, adjusting brightness/contrast, or making selective hue edits.

"Because the new inCamera Professional is fully compatible with comprehensive ICC color management standards, it provides an excellent entrée into the world of managed color," says Wayne R. Huelskoetter, Pictographics president. "It will help professional photographers squeeze every ounce of performance from their digital cameras, capturing the best images possible for their clients to assure optimal results from their printers."

inCamera Professional can be purchased at Pictographics' web site, www.picto.com. It is available as a download for $475 or on CD-ROM with a printed manual for $495 plus shipping. The company's web site also contains detailed product information including a free downloadable user manual, as well as independent product reviews.
