Pack Your Camera Bags – Polaroid is on the Road Again!
WHAT: For the second year in a row, Polaroid will conduct its professional photography Road Show tour, a series of seven educational seminars across the United States. Kicking off in New York City on May 13, this year's tour features a new roster of activities designed to inspire and promote creativity.
This series of daylong seminars will feature interactive training sessions, new professional products and artistic methods including:lighting techniques, creative uses for Polaroid film, and Polaroid input and digital output - such as image transfers, emulsion lifts and manipulations. Pieces from the Polaroid Collection will be available for viewing. The Collection is owned exclusively by Polaroid and features one-of-a-kind Polaroid photographs by acclaimed photographers. A Polaroid photography expert will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate products.
WHO: The Polaroid Road Show is open to professional and amateur photographers, students and photography enthusiasts.
PORTFOLIO REVIEW: Barbara Hitchcock,Cultural Affairs Directorfor Polaroid, will be available to review portfolios. Barbara acquires fine art photographs for Polaroid, manages its multi-million dollar art collection and its traveling exhibitions. She has been the curator of several exhibitions, including The Big Picture; Olivia Parker: Objects and Implications; Sightseeing: A Space Panorama, (a collaboration with NASA); and Polaroid 50: Art and Technology. Currently, she serves on the Photography Collection Committee of Harvard University Art Museum in Cambridge, MA.
20x24 CAMERA: Following the workshop, photographers will have the opportunity to witness photography demonstrations with the Polaroid 20x24 Camera. At five-feet tall and 235 pounds, this highly sophisticated camera produces high quality full-color and black-and-white 20x24-inch pictures in 70 seconds.
The 20x24 camera will stay at the location for three days following the show. To rent the camera during that time, professional photographers must request a rental at the time of registration.
