Nikon Re-Launches NikonNet.com With New Photo Sharing and Albuming Features

NikonNet Works Seamlessly With One Touch Upload To The Web(TM) Feature On New Nikon Coolpix(R) 775 Digital Camera to Make Uploading, Personalizing And Sharing Photos Faster and Easier Than Any Photo Website June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Nikon, the world leader in photography, today re-launched NikonNet (http://www.nikonnet.com), the definitive photography website for photo sharing and education. The new site boasts a completely redesigned back-end and a suite of new features that make uploading, storing, editing and sharing images faster and easier than any other site on the web. NikonNet contains a highly refined navigation system as well as several proprietary tools to create personalized e-cards and photo albums, as well as a unique new photo album slide show.

The site's new community features and improved navigation work seamlessly with the new One Touch Upload To The Web(TM) feature on Nikon's new Coolpix(R) 775 Digital Camera to simply upload photos to the web at the touch of the camera's "transfer" button. In addition, the site's new "Your Turn" community allows NikonNet visitors and members to submit pictures to the Editor's Choice and Publish Your Passion sections for a chance to have their images published on the site and win prizes.

"In developing the new version of NikonNet, we set out to create a photo sharing and education website consistent with the Nikon brand," said Jerry Grossman, Vice President of Internet Development and Marketing for Nikon. "NikonNet offers photo enthusiasts, and anyone interested in photography, an inspiring learning experience and the fastest and easiest system to upload and share photos on the web."

The site brings the photography experience full circle. Visitors can learn about photography through insights from renowned professional photographers, go to http://www.nikonusa.com for product information, upload photos directly to NikonNet, edit pictures and catalog them into albums. Visitors can also invite friends to view albums, print photos and purchase photo gifts, as well as visit NikonMall.com to purchase hard to find accessories and educational materials online.

NikonNet To Be Powered by ArcSoft and PhotoIsland(TM)
The back-end of the site is now powered by ArcSoft's PhotoIsland technology, the company's network-based consumer photo-sharing and archiving service. Application Service Provider (ASP) ArcSoft will handle all back-end digital imaging solutions including photo storage and online imaging.

NikonNet Uses Advanced Technology to Fulfill Promise of Making Uploading, Albuming and Sharing Photos Quick and Simple
On NikonNet, the uploading process is practically effortless, offering members a simple browse and choose menu for selecting and uploading each image quickly from their computer. NikonNet's newly designed "My Portfolio" section gives members an organized, efficient and user-friendly means to edit and store images. Once uploaded, photos are listed in their own space in "My Portfolio," each with their own editing menu and room for customized captions and personal notes. Photos can be edited to match specific needs using features that include rotating, cropping and red eye removal as well as a new option to sort photos by date, name or caption.

With photos edited and stored in "My Portfolio," members can transfer and group their images in NikonNet's newly designed album format. The "Albums" option is capable of creating multiple photo display albums, each with their own names, captions, colors, layout and themes. Upon completion, members can then choose to share their photo albums with family and friends via an email invitation option offered on the site.

Photo albums can also be set to run as slide shows through NikonNet's unique slide show viewing feature. The slide show offers a completely new and active way for NikonNet members to view photos and breathes life into the images. Guests can also be invited to view the slideshows through a simple email.

At any time, photos from personal albums or the "My Photos" section can be used to assemble colorful and creative e-cards and gifts for any occasion using an incredibly user-friendly step-by-step format. NikonNet members can use standard formats, or create their own, to develop their e-cards as well as choose the stamps, create greetings, messages and even set the card to music. Photos can also be edited and ordered as prints or applied directly to gift items such as mugs, mousepads and t-shirts in the "Design Gifts" section and sent to a given address.

Learn. Print. Share. Inspire: NikonNet Educates By Offering Resources That Only Nikon Can Bring
NikonNet leverages the power of Nikon to teach users how to get the most out of their photographs and equipment. The site offers multiple places to find basic photography information, photography news and useful suggestions from professionals. "Nikon Recommends" is always available on-screen to answer questions and offer tips and solutions. The monthly "Legends Behind the Lens" program showcases anecdotes, experiences and photographs from world-renowned professionals, with past Legends, including Eddie Adams, Jay Maisel, Annie Griffiths Belt, Frans Lanting and Steve McCurry, remaining available for viewing. Nikon will be adding additional educational features and competitions, including Nikon School content and scholastic photo contests, later in the year.
