Nikon Introduces New 35mm Compact Film Camera

Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Nikon (http://www.nikonusa.com/), the world leader in photography, today introduced the Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD, a new compact 35mm film camera packed with easy-to-use features and dazzling performance in an elegant, slim body. The new Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD maintains Nikon's traditional superior image quality with a powerful 4x (38mm - 150mm) Nikon Zoom lens that features ED (extra-low dispersion) glass to provide vivid color and contrast in every image. The result is a compact point-and-shoot camera that is simple to operate with great image quality and sleek design.

"The Nikon Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD is Nikon's flagship compact camera, offering the unique combination of sophisticated features and simplified operation," said Jerry Grossman, Vice President, Marketing for Consumer Digital Products and Compact Cameras. "The Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD incorporates a powerful 4x Nikon Zoom lens to satisfy even the most seasoned photographer. What makes this camera special is its ability to offer superior image quality to point-and-shoot users, with an intuitive design that leaves them free to compose their shots, rather than worrying about snapping them."

Experience the Quality with Power and Versatility
The slim, elegant design of the Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD encompasses Nikon's advanced technology. The camera's compact lightweight body is approximately 4.6 x 2.4 x 1.8 inches, weighing only 7 ounces without a battery, making it easy to slip into a small handbag or even a shirt pocket. Within the camera's titanium-colored body and safely behind the protective sliding lens cover lies a superior Nikon Zoom lens.

The Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD's 4x zoom lens incorporates Nikon's exclusive ED glass along with two aspherical lens elements ensuring that consumers receive optimum picture quality. The 150mm telephoto Zoom range allows users to jump into the action from the sidelines or shoot small subjects from as close as 2.5 feet to capture a variety of photos from any distance.

The compact camera makes picture-taking simple with a Wide-Area Passive Autofocus and an Automatic Exposure mode, so the user can easily frame their subject and ensure that every moment is captured in a perfect image.

A Choice of Five Flash Modes
The Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD features five versatile flash modes, including a Red-eye Reduction mode, to allow users to choose the best settings for the condition, or let the camera select automatically with Auto Flash mode. Night Portrait (Slow Sync Flash) mode sets the flash for night and indoor scenes to light up a foreground, while using a slow shutter speed to also capture background details. Flash Cancel mode allows users to shoot without flash -- perfect for situations where using a flash is prohibited, for example in a museum. For easy operation, the Anytime Flash mode fires the flash every time the shutter is pressed, adding fill light to your photos.

Advanced Features to Simply Simplify Point and Shoot
Picture taking is made even easier with some of the advanced features of the Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD. A real-image optical viewfinder zooms with the lens and provides bright, clear viewing. Users who are near or far-sighted can adjust the eyepiece diopter to ensure a sharp, bright view. The viewfinder eyepiece has also been specially coated to prevent it from fogging in cold or hot, humid weather. A built-in Quartz Date function prints the date or time on the front of each photo for easy recall of exactly when the shot was taken. The camera's standard self-timer and the Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD's optional wireless Remote Control (Model ML-L3) offer the flexibility for users to be included in their own pictures so they do not miss out on group shots or other fun photos.

Film loading and rewinding is a simple automatic process with the Lite- Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD so the user can focus on taking the picture, not loading the film. The option to rewind the film mid-roll is also available. A Panorama mode is made easy with the flip of a switch to capture landscape views or group portraits. Users can switch freely between normal and panorama mode, even in the middle of a roll.

The Lite-Touch Zoom 150 ED/QD will be available in November 2002 at a Suggested List Price of $299.95.
