Nikon Chooses Lexar Media as Exclusive Supplier for Coolpix

April 7, 2003 - Nikon and Lexar Media announced today that Nikon has chosen Lexar Media for the second year in a row to be the exclusive provider of memory cards for all Nikon Coolpix digital cameras sold in the United States. Nikon will continue to bundle Lexar Media 16-megabyte High-Speed CompactFlash memory cards with its award winning line of Coolpix digital cameras in 2003.

The CompactFlash cards will be Lexar branded and labeled as a 'Nikon Starter Card.' The two companies have also committed to continuing their successful joint marketing program, which includes on-box and in-box information, retail promotions and Nikon advertising featuring Lexar Media memory cards.

"Nikon cameras and Lexar memory cards are perfectly matched for each other, as both are known for high-quality and high-performance," said Eric Stang, president and CEO, Lexar Media. "We are very pleased that every new Coolpix owner will have the opportunity to recognize the speed and performance benefits of Lexar cards with their first picture taking experience."

"This program worked extraordinarily well for us in 2002 and we are pleased to extend it another year," said Jack Abrams, president and CEO of Nikon Inc. "Lexar Media has consistently delivered quality products that meet our high standards. The Lexar brand name is highly regarded and their CompactFlash cards are fast and reliable; an optimal solution for our high performance cameras."

Lexar Media is the only company to speed-rate CompactFlash based on the minimum sustained write speed. The company uses a standard where 1X equals 150MB/s, which was adopted from the CD-ROM industry and pioneered by Lexar Media for solid-state memory cards. Lexar Media tests each memory card prior to shipment to ensure that it meets or exceeds the speed stated on the packaging.
