Nikon and eBay Team Up
June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Nikon Inc. today announced an exciting and broad-reaching partnership with eBay, The World's Online Marketplace, to become the backbone of photography education for the more than 69 million registered eBay users. To launch the relationship, Nikon will be a Premier Sponsor of eBay Live! 2003 in Orlando, FL, from June 26-28. Nikon is also the Premier Sponsor of eBay University, a roving educational program designed to teach eBay's users how to buy and sell on the World's Online Marketplace.
eBay users have the opportunity to rely on Nikon's expertise in digital photography to improve their item listings and increase sales. To begin its support for eBay University, digital photography experts from Nikon will be conducting live seminars throughout eBay Live! to introduce attendees to Nikon Coolpix digital photography and its online applications.
Nikon has also designed an exclusive Nikon/eBay destination page at www.nikoncoolpix.com/ebay to educate those interested in photography tips that "A better picture is worth a thousands bucks." The Nikon/eBay destination page breaks picture-taking down by eBay category and offers great digital photo tips that can be applied for almost any use.
"Nikon and eBay are a natural fit and we are very enthusiastic about working together with eBay to educate its sellers on the importance of good product photography in their business," said Jerry Grossman, vice president, marketing for Consumer Digital Products for Nikon Inc. "Together, Nikon and eBay will educate users to understand the basic principles of how to use photography to create a better experience for their customers and, hopefully, help increase their sales as a result."

The Nikon/eBay partnership will kick off with eBay's second annual community conference, eBay Live! 2003, which is expected to have more than 10,000 attendees. Nikon will reach out to these attendees through a series of live eBay University courses throughout the two-and-a-half day event. The informative and interactive courses, entitled "Using digital photography to pump your sales," will help online auction participants to realize that a better picture could mean better auction results. Nikon digital photography experts will use Nikon Coolpix digital cameras (www.nikoncoolpix.com) to demonstrate how taking even the most basic considerations when capturing product shots could very well determine whether a buyer will bid or pass.
Kevin McSpadden, director of eBay Marketing Education, said "We are excited to work with Nikon at eBay Live! to better educate about how to take great pictures. Moving forward, we believe this relationship will provide long-term, meaningful value to our users."
