New ULTRASONE Headphones To Debut at NAMM
December 29, 2003 - ULTRASONE AG, the German headphone manufacturer incorporating unique Natural Surround Sound S-Logic and PROline (ultra-low emission) technology, debuts the newly designed HFI-650 and HFI-550 stereo headphones for recording engineers and music professionals at The NAMM Show on January 15-18, 2004. The headphones will be featured at the EARS Audio Distribution Booth #6799.
The HFI-650, recently named one of the best products of 2003 (the only headphone honored)*, and HFI-550 offer depth, dimension, and detail beyond anything you have ever experienced in a stereo headphone - all at lower, safer, less fatiguing sound pressure levels with up to 98% reduction in electro magnetic field emissions (radiation).
The HFI-650 daily proves its achievement worldwide in music production, in recording studios, at the microphone, or in television and broadcasting studios. The HFI-650 is the first true closed-back headphone which sounds like an open one. Foldable, for compact storage and one ear-listening, circum-aural, a highly accurate dynamic transducer, and a frequency response of 10Hz-25kHz. Impedance is 75 ohms, sensitivity at 94dB, and now is available with a coiled or straight 3m cable. New convenient carry bag is also included. Retail $249.00; PROline $299.00.
Ideal for drummers, bass players, and DJs, the HFI-550 is a foldable, closed-back headphone designed with the musician, dance club engineer, and broadcaster in mind offering a tight powerful bass, precise and detailed instrument placement, extreme isolation along with an impressive power spectrum. Much like the HFI-650, the HFI-550 is also a circum-aural headphone but has a more rugged (50mm Mylar) transducer with a lower impedance and improved sensitivity (SPL 103dB). Frequency response 10Hz-22kHz, Impedance 32 ohms, and choice of a straight or coiled 3m cable. Carry bag included. Retail $189.00; PROline $239.00.
ULTRASONE is a headphone manufacturer that directly addresses the physiology of the ear rather than use electronics to generate a stereophonic surround sound field. The patented S-Logic technology utilizes decentralized transducer positioning to reflect sound off the listener’s outer ear, creating a natural three-dimensional sensation without the use of processing. Whereas standard headphones create the impression of a stereo image within the listeners' head, S-Logic produces a stereophonic surround sound field that is perceived to be broad, detached, and located in front of the listener, outside of the listeners' head.
Furthermore, since ULTRASONE headphone transducers are not aimed directly at the auditory canal, listeners perceive the same volume with sound pressure levels at the eardrum reduced by up to 40 percent. This significantly reduces the risk of hearing damage while also ensuring hours of fatigue-free listening. An absolute must if you spend half of your life in headphones.
“The ULTRASONE headphones are without a doubt the best headphones I have ever used,” reports Craig Krampf, Craig Krampf, a musician, producer, and Grammy award-winning songwriter with a 38 year career. “I now carry my own phones to every studio, and without fail, when a person a tries my phones, they are blown away. I have been waiting my whole career for headphones like these.”
