New Space-Saving FoodSaver Vac 420
August 2002 – Because so many people are running out of counter space in their kitchens, Tilia introduces the new FoodSaver Vac 420, the smallest appliance on the market to offer commercial-strength vacuum packaging. The space-saving Vac 420 keeps food fresh three to five times longer by removing the air before storage.
The trend toward smaller kitchen appliances is rooted in the realities of American kitchens. According to the National Multi-Housing Council, more than 32% of households are rentals, which generally offer smaller living space than single-family homes. When you add to this the 4% of households in condominiums or townhouses, plus the many homeowners who dream of large kitchens but live in small ones, the reasons behind the market demand for smaller kitchen appliances are clear.
The FoodSaver Vac 420 offers the benefits of the most popular FoodSaver models, but at a fraction of the size. At 11.5 inches, it is four inches or 26% shorter than other mid-range FoodSaver models. But it features the same powerful piston pump as the larger FoodSaver models, making it just as effective in preserving the freshness, flavor and texture of food.
The versatile FoodSaver Vac 420 can vacuum package food in Pint or Quart FoodSaver Bags, eight-inch diameter FoodSaver Rolls and any size FoodSaver Canister. You can also use it to vacuum package food in bottles, cans or Ball or Kerr Mason Jars. FoodSaver Rolls can be cut to any length, giving you the option of creating a bag custom-sized to the contents.
Designed for ease of use, the Vac 420 takes fewer steps to operate than many vacuum packaging machines. To initiate vacuum packaging, you push down gently on the lid rather than pressing a button, making it easier to operate for older people or those who need to reduce stress on their hands and fingers. A Teflon-coated Sealing Strip seals bags tightly and securely once the air has been removed from the bag or container.
The Vac 420 comes in white, complete with instructions, a sample of FoodSaver Bags, Rolls and a ¾-Quart FoodSaver Canister. It’s UL and cUL Listed. Customer service support is available via a toll-free 800 number or email for those who have questions or may be vacuum packaging food for the first time.
The FoodSaver Vac 420 is available at retailers nationwide, at a suggested retail price of $119.99.
The space-saving FoodSaver Vac 420 is one of many category innovations from Tilia, the leader in home vacuum packaging. For more information, call 800-777-5452 or visit www.foodsaver.com.
