New Smoke Alarms With Side-Loading Battery Drawer
April 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Universal Security Instruments today announced it has received Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listing for two new smoke alarm units offering side-loading battery drawers and a number of other desirable features.
The UL Listing covers Universal's new Model USI-5204 Ionization and USI- 3204 Photoelectric Smoke Alarms, and clears the way for Spring availability for both units. The Company said it expects the Photoelectric alarms to begin shipping near the end of April, and the Ionization units in late May or June 2003.
Universal, an Owings Mills, MD-based designer and marketer of security and safety equipment, said the new models introduce a number of important convenience and safety features in response to emerging demands from consumers and builders.
The new models offer:
- A side-loading battery drawer for easy battery replacement and fewer installer service calls.
- Three-year heavy-duty battery, which reduces the need to get into hard- to-reach areas.
- Quick pull-tab activation for batteries, significantly reducing potential installation time.
- Dust cover to cut down on nuisance alarms caused by dust and debris during construction.
- Independent Silencer Button stops nuisance alarms for eight minutes but will automatically override in the event of an actual fire.
"The retail and wholesale markets have indicated strong interest in these new smoke alarms. We are very pleased to have UL Listing secured, and look forward to delivering these units to our customers in the coming weeks," said Ron Lazarus, President of the USI ELECTRIC division of Universal Security Instruments. "We expect these models to play an important role in Universal's continued market share expansion in our $450-million industry."
